I have a GP apt tomorrow to confirm but the tests are all testing +.
I’m approx 4w/2d, current signs are cramping a lot, being absolutely exhausted and apparently as of just this afternoon, tender boobs. The cramping I’m reading is perfectly normal (it’s approx 1-2/10) but it is freaking me out slightly as I’m normally very lucky with period pain. I’m having to really try not to think the cramping is a bad sign.

I’ve been on semaglutide tablets (stopped) empagliflozin (stopped) and metformin (still on) but typically am usually diet controlled - I needed these after a period of extreme stress where my diet tanked. I’ve stopped these based on google and will resume if GP wishes. Last Hb1ac was only just raised so had come right down - was due a re-test in the next 4-6 ish weeks.

Am I going to be treated essentially like this is GD the whole way or will I have different monitoring? I don’t currently track my blood sugars daily - can I ask for freestyle libre? Finger pricking is going to be hideous 😢
I know it’s likely to be an individual thing but I guess I’m just looking for a rough idea of what to expect - another 38 ish weeks seems like a huge distance to make it to

TIA

Are you taking folic acid 5 mg tablets from your GP?

you are asked to check your blood sugars 6x day - when you first wake up, an hour after breakfast, before and after lunch, before and after evening meal.

You are unlikely to get funded for a FreeStyle libre unless you are on insulin.

in my local service you would be linked asap with a diabetes midwife and seen with a scan in clinic when you are about 7 weeks.

Essentially the only drugs used are metformin and insulin as we know they are safe in pregnancy.

They put me on insulin when I stopped the other drugs. There was no funding for Libre because I was T2 even though on insulin, but in the end I self-funded because keeping on top of the testing without that was mad. Yes to diabetes midwife as above, but also consultant. It was extremely regular appointments including lots of extra scans even though sugars were well controlled throughout. Have you had any complications with your diabetes? If eye issues it makes a c-section more advisable. Good luck, I found it tough (but worth it in the end obviously!).

Thank you for the replies - I’ve now got a slightly better idea of what to expect! 6 x a day will be fun 🥴
No complications with diabetes thankfully always all good. I’m on over the counter folic acid at the mo, will see what Gp says tomorrow.
