Baby Bjorn Bouncer

26 weeks, first time parents.

Can anyone please share their thoughts and feelings with the Baby Bjorn bouncer? I keep reading reviews and forum posts how it was a life saver and the best bouncer on the market.

However hubby is categorically not even considering with that super high price tag 😅 (understandable)

Do I need to pitch a PowerPoint presentation on why we need this bouncer? Is it really the best as many say or is it just a brand and overly advertised product due to social media and influences?

We really want the bouncer to lay flat so easy to store when not in use and to travel with. But also love that the cover can go in the wash of this one too.

Looking forward to the honest replies, thank you! 😅

I like the BabyBjorn a lot - I have one at home and one at my parents house too. But I got them both second hand on Facebook marketplace. I think I paid £30 for one and £20 for the other. Maybe a good option if you don't want to spend too much!

I love them. Had a second hand one for my first baby, couldn't bear to spend that amount brand new for my second baby many years later so I got the Red Kite Baya Baby Bouncer from Argos. Same shape, same style. It's £45 plus a 10% discount at the minute.

Get a second hand one. Ours was £30 and great.

Butterflyfern · 12/04/2025 15:35

It's definitely not worth the pricetag new. Get one second hand.

They're useful because they're so light it's easy to move them around the house. I used to be able to take it to the bathroom when I showered, bedroom while I dressed, kitchen when I cooked etc. But they're certainly not a magic baby soothing switch!

We also got given a much chunkier stokke steps one (still folds flat), when baby got a bit bigger they preferred that one, and we had the high chair to go with it, so baby could sit at the table with us from the get go. If I was getting one again, it'd probably be that one tbh.

I’ve been looking at second hand for months and unfortunately none are coming up around us, if they did I’d get second hand in a heartbeat as they seem to retain their value to sell forward again! We do still have a couple months left though so still hopeful and checking.

Will check out the Stoke also, thank you!

I’ve seen this one also and thought very similar! Was it as easy to fold up?

I think they are amazing, it’s the only thing my baby accepts. I didn’t have one initially because I didn’t see the point, but then I visited my sister who had one and tried it out with my baby, and once I got back home I bought my own.

What makes it different to other bouncers do you think? I keep reading that some babies will only settle in this one but can’t seem to understand why when they really are just a simple piece of kit!

We had one and DD1 hated it so I thought she didn’t like bouncers. With DD2 I bought a cheap bouncer to have upstairs and she loved that one but hated the baby bjorn one.

Honestly, I have no idea, I was wondering the same! I had a fancy chair-thingy with music, rocking etc which was half the price to the very basic looking Baby Bjorn (which was why I didn't buy one before baby arrived), but my baby wouldn't accept the chair I had, however, loves the bouncer.

blackbadger · 12/04/2025 15:56

I got 2 second hand baby bjorn bouncers and couldn't have been without them. Had one upstairs and one downstairs.

Have you looked on vinted? And EBay?

From memory one of the good things about the bb was the weight limit, which was higher than some of the cheaper ones.

AntiHop · 12/04/2025 16:01

Worth it's weight in gold. Light and folds flat so travels easily. Plus the baby can make it bounce so they feel soothed. I bought mine second hand and sold it for the same price.

OOlivePenderghast · 12/04/2025 16:02

I got a second hand baby bjorn bouncer and it is nice. My baby just saw it as a cage though. But she also didn’t like the jumperoo, the moving electric bouncers or anything that limited movement.

UpsideDownChairs · 12/04/2025 16:26

I got mine second hand too - I lurked on ebay for months to get one in a non-desirable colour in the end (then my MIL nicked it for another DIL, forgetting that a) I might have another baby, and b) that I have sisters too!)

TBH, it was basically exactly the same as the cheapy my mum used for us when I was a baby 40-odd years ago.

My eldest had a fisher price one, which TBH, wasn't significantly different (it was a rocker rather than a bouncer)

I'd say you should get something, but that the bjorn isn't the be-all and end-all

Yep we had absolutely no issues. Took it on UK holidays with us and everything. Found the toy bar difficult to attach but we didn't use that anyway. Cover comes off to wash as well.

SaturnSparks · 12/04/2025 16:40

I’ve just got one. My DH was against it at first but thought it was best to pick and choose his battles 😂

We did a lot of research before though and landed on the BabyBjorn soft so hopefully he will like it!

Wednesdaysotherchild · 12/04/2025 16:43

Our baby loves it, stops him crying quite a lot to pop him in it - toy bar a hit too. I can’t say why he loves it, but he does and as he won’t lie flat (reflux) it’s been a godsend to rest our arms.

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 12/04/2025 16:49

Yes brilliant but I bought mine second hand and resold it too

seven201 · 12/04/2025 20:09

Both my babies wouldn't tolerate any bouncer, so that may be a factor! I agree about second hand. I sold ours on Vinted when done with it. Easy to wash and folds down well.
