Measuring 2 weeks behind

First time poster , apologises if this is not the right forum / place.

I am looking for a little bit of reassurance from experienced mommas out there…

attended a early reassurance scan at what I
thought was 8w2 , however measured 6w2, with a HB. The hospital did not seem to have any confidence that the pregnancy would progress how ever have referred me for a follow up scan in 2 weeks “ just in case”.

I very much feel pregnant and have no pain or bleeding… has anyone experienced similar and had a positive outcome? Pregnancy is measuring exactly to the date of ovulation ( as i religious was testing and BBT) and had my first BFP 4 weeks ago.

If you were tracking ovulation and you know the dates are correct I wouldn’t be concerned. But just to check, do you mean you ovulated 6w 2 days ago or 4w 2 days ago?
Because pregnancy is always dated from last period at first. Obviously this isn’t accurate for a lot of people due to short/long cycles. But you always need to add 2 weeks onto your ovulation/conception date to get your official date.

So for example, even if you know 100% you ovulated on 1st February, on the 1st March you are 6 weeks pregnant and would expect to be told at a scan you are measuring 6 weeks pregnant. There is no such thing in pregnancy dating as 2 weeks pregnant. (Although places can use the term fetal age I believe rather than gestational age). But normally at scans you get told the gestational age only which is the 2 weeks extra on top of ovulation.

I did and my daughter was born at 38 weeks which added up perfectly to my original date.

I know you asked for positive responses but I hope you don't mind (as I was measuring exactly the same as you, and I wanted to be prepared for loss)..
I thought I was nearly 8 weeks but was measuring 6. 12 days difference to be exact. I too wasn't having bleeding or cramping (ironically in my pregnancy with my son, i did bleed a lot). I saw a heartbeat too. It wasn't until 4 weeks later that I miscarried. I would prepare yourself but I hope this isn't the case for you.

I have no faith in those scans. My early scan was nearly 3 weeks out. It’s a good job my partner trusts me as he had been working away for over 2 weeks when I had apparently conceived. Also on the other end of the scale, my sister had an induction at 38 weeks as they said her baby was already weighing 10 plus pounds. He was 5lbs 2 and needed a stay in hospital for prem related issues

Thanks all for your replies - sorry I realise my original post wasn’t clear.

this weeks scan should of been 8w2d based on LMP. Pregnancy measured as 6w2d which matches my ovulation dates. 1st BFP was 4w2ds prior to the scan.

Hospital not confident that pregnancy will progress but as mentioned booked for a repeat scan in 2 weeks time “ just in case”.

preparing for the worst… but glad to see some positive stories too. Thank you

@12Anonymous123 just to confirm, you ovulated on the 12th March?

12Anonymous123 · 11/04/2025 18:53

@Blue2020 : ovulated 24/2 , BFP 10/3

So really you should be measuring over 8 weeks now. If I’m honest, I would be preparing for the worst due to my own experience of similar. But. There are plenty of positive stories out there so it’s not over until it’s confirmed. Fingers crossed for you.
