Knocked my bump waking into post

Hi everybody!

I was just walking my dog with my partner and I was ironically looking at a cute toddler running away from his mother and I walked into a tall black post in the middle of a path and it bumped my lower stomach. It didn’t hurt it was just a shock. Do I need to call triage? Ifs my first pregnancy and I’m 18 weeks. Hubby thinks I’m being dramatic!

Thanks,

I'm siding with your husband 😉Those little ones are well protected.

(I think things like that are only an issue if you're rhesus negative, but I really don't know more than that)

esunny · 07/04/2025 16:39

I am rhesus negative! 😫

Is your hubby rh-?
could be worthwhile phoning triage and they might ask you to come in and give you anti-d injection.

Your baby is very well insulated and protected, you will both be fine.

Rhs negative mama here! I was always told small bumps are fine, big bumps like car crashes, emergency stops kind of pressure not okay.
And of course if you trip or fall and have reduced movement or bleeding to get checked.

Yes call triage.

Sorry that was a bit blunt I sent to early, just contact them, to get checked over.

Thank you! My dog jumped on my stomscb last week too so now I’m overthinking, however I’ve felt movement yesterday and today since that. Surely it’s really hard to avoid small knocks and bumps! X

You will be more bump aware as you get bigger, I think just ringing your unit will put your mind at ease.

LaTable · 07/04/2025 19:04

My dogs used to jump at me all the time and then constantly got kicked changing nappies when pregnant with number 2. Constantly clumsy walking into things like counter tops or (not) squeezing through door frames 🙃 now imagine being dive bombed wrestler style by a 6 year old, plus trying to catch chickens and animals and showing my 8 to how to cartwheel while still trying to hide this pregnancy 😆

If you're truly worried about any bump, it's always best to be safe than sorry and call your midwife or epu x

I'm RN too and got anti d jab when knocked bump.ring triage

So I’m 35 weeks and fell running after my toddler last week. I called and reported to my midwife, just so it was on the record (so if I suddenly went into labour they’d know what had caused it). She did say I didn’t need to come in, though (and as far as I’m aware, she was right). I appreciate I’m a lot
further along but the midwife did say I’d done the right thing. There’s no harm in just getting it in your record.
