Pants for after c section

I've bought some of boots own brand postpartum pants to use after my c section, but just wondering if anyone has any other recommendations on what they have used? I've been looking at Tena pants and always pants, are they any good to use? I've also got maternity pads to use with them.

Hey OP, do you mean pants (underwear) or adult nappies/diapers?

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 06:32

@Uphighseesky Hi, like pants (disposable underwear) that you could put a maternity pad in if needed.

I can't remember the brand, but I used the highest waisted disposable underwear I could find. It worked out well, as they sort of hugged over the stitch/dressing line which was good, and disposable means you worry less about what is happening down there and possible leaks.
Best of luck!

I didn't have a csection so I'm not sure how high the pants should come up, but the best underwear for me was (sorry) granny style full pants that were slightly on the tight side. Anything loose and too stretchy didn't feel like it held the massive maternity pads securely. I think I ordered a multipack off Amazon!

I actually wore m&s period knickers. They were the most comfortable and supportive I found.

toastofthetown · 06/04/2025 07:35

I had the Fridamom boy shorts and they were really comfortable.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 08:43

@Sajacas I like the idea of high waisted ones and that are disposable so not having to worry about ruining your underwear. Thank you ❤️

@toastofthetown I've read a few reviews of the fridea mom ones and they seem to be really good.

@AnxiousLurker That's good to know, I've never used period pants, they do look good. Like the idea of something being comfy and supportive.

@Uphighseesky I do like the big knickers and have never looked back! Will have a look on Amazon 🙂

I used adult nappies, like big pull up pants.
they were great and so comfortable over my scar.
Never leaked once whereas with knickers and pads I leaked a few times and didn’t feel so secure.

Aldi’s own brand were the ones I used.

Once the bleeding had calmed down I got really big 100% cotton knickers from next in a size up so that they could be pulled right up over my scar.

AnxiousLurker · 06/04/2025 08:50

@Rainbowsunshine81I found the disposable ones to be itchy and annoying but that was just me. They made my scar itch terrible whereas the period pants were a godsend. It was actually the first time I’d used them as I purchased them for heavy periods about a week before I got pregnant! Best of luck to you!

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 08:55

@McQueensMuse That sounds a good idea. I remember with my first son I used the big knickers and maternity pads, still use the big knickers now, could never go back to the bikini style knickers.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 08:57

@AnxiousLurker Wouldn't like the idea of something irritating would you. I vaguely remember being given like those flimsy thready time knickers in the hospital with their maternity pads and thought don't fancy those again!
Thank you! ❤️

I just bought a pack of cheap supermarket cotton full knickers and extra long nighttime pads, worked just fine.

GFB · 06/04/2025 09:02

I used Frieda C-section pants for the first 10 days or so. They were great, very comfortable. Then I switched to some huge m&s briefs 2 sizes up which came up to my belly button and didn't irritate my scar.

Congratulations and hope everything goes well. 💜

remaininghopeful23 · 06/04/2025 09:11

Sometimes the disposable ones are more expensive than a multipack high waist cotton undies from the likes of M&S just FYI! The boots ones seem cheap, but the likes of Frida can be more expensive.
If you're considering disposable, then its not really a concern if you bleed through and need to dump the occasional pair. I never bled through to undies or clothes after my c section, tends to be lighter than with a vaginal birth.
Nothing beats cotton imo when you're hot and sweaty as it is PP.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 09:50

@minnienono That sounds like a good idea, I think I might have done that last time.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 09:54

@remaininghopeful23 That's true, I can't really remember how much I bled after my last section.
I know I got very warm with the weather and hormones so something cool and comfortable would be better. The frieda mom ones are like £14. I do like high waisted underwear and cotton ones.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 09:57

@GFB I've seen the frieda mom ones and the reviews have been good. I do like the big knickers and still wear them 8 years on, could never go back to the bikini style ones. Like the idea of something that doesn't irritate your scar as well.
Thank you very much ❤️ ❤️

Just to say that if you're looking into period pants, I'd recommend WUKA stretch super heavy ones, they're amazing period pants. They're a bit pricey but don't have any silver in them (M&S ones have silver in but it's not very good for your body). WUKA ones are phenomenal -- absorb loads, high waisted and you don't have to pre-rinse them. Last forever. They're suitable for lochia, too. They don't smell and you just bung them in the washing machine. Really comfy and I completely forget I'm wearing them. Fully converted me to period pants!

Would period pants work for you?

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 16:57

@Nope2024 Thank you, will have a look at those, they sound really good!

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/04/2025 16:58

@MrsSkylerWhite I'm not sure, I've never used them before.
