37+6 reduced movements

Was in over night with reduced movements (3rd time 1st time being kept) the ctg they done yesterday was on for hours before they got a baseline they were have with , they said baby was very reactive.
Done one that night it was perfect and then again this morning again for a hour and couldn’t get a baseline and want to repeat in couple of hours.

i feel the movements have definitely improved and want to go home (I know I’m safer here though dw) but I’ve a planned section for 39+1 weeks and yesterday they were saying if I wasn’t happy with movements they could do it at 38+1 but they wouldn’t be happy as baby’s lungs might not be mature enough and obviously I don’t want to push for something that isn’t safe for baby.

i don’t want to have to be in until then (10 days time) as I’ve a little one at home 😫

stressed🫣

anyone else have anything similar ctg ? They said it’s normal but I don’t understand why it’s ticked “unreasuring” if it’s normal

Sorry, this sounds really stressful, I didn't experience this personally. I'd stay in for as long as they want you to, I know it's a faff and hospitals are awful, especially if you have another child, but it's just not worth the risk if you've been having unreassuring CTGs. Good luck x

Nursemumma92 · 05/04/2025 20:05

Very difficult one. If the CTGs are not reassuring then it wouldn't be a good idea to go home. For the staff it will be a case of weighing up whether the risk of baby's lungs not being mature enough to not need any support vs baby being left in utero with non reassuring ctgs. Have you had a scan to check your placenta and uterine dopplers?

river29 · 05/04/2025 20:13

I had a section at 36 weeks due to previous full term stillbirth and a sudden worrying situation during the second pregnancy. I was offered steroids to support the lungs which we took due to the prematurity, they used to be given as standard prior to 39 weeks in our hospital but now not generally unless it’s prior to 37.

YouLookinSusBro · 05/04/2025 20:19

I would stay in, it's not worth the risk if the CTGs are not reassuring. At least if you're in hospital the staff can act quickly if there is a problem. My last DC was born at 38 weeks by planned induction and was fine.

Mummy2925 · 05/04/2025 22:51

Had another non reassuring trace with high heart rate , on trace for 2 hours , decided to prep for section and then baby settled down and they changed there minds… blaming it on me having sugar and all I had a sip of coke and 2 sweets ..
horrible stressful time 😫

Oh god, that is beyond ridiculous blaming you first having a bloody sip of coke! What do you want to happen? Do you feel like you're being looked after well? X

Mummy2925 · 06/04/2025 12:13

@WickWood i don’t want to pressure them to do section because they have me terrified of him being too earlier (38weeks now ) and ending up in the nicu 😭

Have they given you steroid jabs for the baby’s lungs if they have to deliver early?

Have they given you steroid jabs for the baby’s lungs if they have to deliver early?

steroids wouldn't routinely be used at 38/40.

Puppupandaway · 06/04/2025 15:42

My dd was born at 38 weeks as I had gestational diabetes and she was measuring small. 38-42 weeks is classed as full term. Your baby will be just fine delivered at 38w. I’d be tempted to just go with the C-section asap. Good luck!

Doggods · 06/04/2025 19:25

38 weeks is term, OP. I’d get that baby out ASAP

Strokethefurrywall · 06/04/2025 21:04

Are they not routinely given on NHS if threat of early delivery? At 38 weeks baby is term but you mentioned their concern that baby’s lungs might not be mature hence the wondering by why they hadn’t given steroids.

I threatened early delivery with both my babies and was given steroids, thankfully both arrived at 37+5 and 38 weeks spontaneously with no additional concerns.

Mummy2925 · 07/04/2025 06:56

Just an update , baby still in , had a small bleed last night trace looked okay though … really want him out now another week seems forever and I am now over 38 weeks , I really hope they make a decision soon 🥺

37 weeks is full term, baby will likely be fine!

edit just seen your update - fingers crossed you get your section soon.

Joystir59 · 07/04/2025 07:27

Hope you get your baby soon

vegisaurus · 07/04/2025 07:31

I had my first at 36 weeks after my waters spontaneously broke early. At my hospital, steroids are not routinely given pre 36 weeks (I can believe other trusts have different guidelines). As others have said, anything post 37 weeks is considered term. Obviously the longer they are kept in the better, but the risks are fairly minimal after the magic 37 week mark.
She was born perfectly healthy, but had a short stay in the SCBU for jaundice that required light treatment. This is more common than you think though regardless of when the baby is born - when I told friends and family after, the amount of people who told me they had been through the same thing surprised me. Good luck with whatever you decide.

GruffaloPants · 07/04/2025 07:37

I was induced at 36 weeks due to reduced activity. Was having regular monitoring due to diabetes. I was given medication prepare her lungs a day or two beforehand. All was good, no complications, she had a touch of jaundice but was able to stay with me on the main ward.

WickWood · 07/04/2025 12:07

In your position I'd definitely be advocating for baby to come out sooner rather than later, given the CTG results and bleed. I'm sorry you're going through this! X

Mummy2925 · 08/04/2025 05:42

Just to update again : baby arrived yesterday via c section and is perfect in every way 💙 thank you to everyone who took time to comment during this scary time ❤️
