Hi all,

This has been going on for months now. I’m 22weeks and I wake in the night with a dry mouth and my tongue is like sandpaper. It’s really disturbing my sleep and the docs can’t give me anything. I’m a bit bunged too and have had a cough for a few months as well.

my cough was v bad a couple of weeks ago and I was given antibiotics for 5 days which helped a lot but this dry mouth thing is still here.

i rang docs yesterday and they couldn’t do anything.

any tips from anyone? It’s really bugging me :(

And reduce salty food intake

Are you snoring? I’ve never snored until pregnancy, when I apparently became a steam train! But yes just regular sips of water, reduce salty foods and perhaps buy a humidifier? You can get them for babies when they have a cough.

I used snoring strips on my nose, put snoring melt things on my upper palette to reduce snoring and slept in a pregnancy pillow and tried to lay on my side as much as possible to reduce snoring as laying on my back I snored. Also humidifier by the bed

Yeah sadly I’ve always been a snorer and it gets even worse when pregnant (second pregnancy). I’ve just never had this horrid dry mouth before and wish there was a way to treat it. I think I’m overall a bit bunged so I just need that to clear but sadly there’s nothing I can take to do so.
will try a humidifier.

thanks all!!

Hi OP! I read your post and couldn’t help remember that I wrote basically the same post almost 5 years ago when I was pregnant with twins: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/4079800-dry-mouth-at-night-3rd-trimester-help?utm_campaign=thread&utm_medium=app_share

thought id share it here! I think the main advice was to use a humidifier but basically it got better once the girls were born. Sorry that’s probably not what you wanted to hear! I’m pregnant again now (14 weeks) and already getting the dry mouth thing again 🙄 here in solidarity! Pregnancy symptoms can just suck sometimes lol. X

Oh blimey I’m only 22 weeks and it sounds like it could get way worse. Lol. These naughty girls are making me start the sleep deprivation early!
glad to know it’s not just me though I guess.

will get a humidifier pronto.

thanks so much!!
