pre-labour pains: how far in advance did they start?

i'm due in 16 days. for the last 3 days i've been having longish bursts of what MW calls pre-labour pains: 3 hrs in the middle of the night, 5 hours yesterday afternoon. they basically feel like pretty bad abdominal stomach cramps/period pains. I never had this with my first child so wasn't expecting it. am doing the rest/paracetamol thing when they hit.
[I am hoping they may have something to do with baby (which was posterior) swivelling around and down into pelvis, as very suddenly i'm no longer suffering so badly from aching hips/heartburn.]
so wanted to ask those who had pre-labour like this how much longer they had to wait?

Thanks mears this is my 3rd and I am 35 weeks, have also been feeling pressure in the bottom area, like you need to go, but of course nothing materialises (sorry about tmi!!)

I had put the pain down to bump being heavy and straining my ligaments!

Groan - well I'm still here I'm afraid.
But... am I having pre labour pains or labour pains??? Have had tummy ache every hour or so since yesterday afternoon. I keep feeling like I need to go the loo for a no 2 (sorry tmi!) but when I get there I don't.

Fed up now.

Hows everyone else doing?

Oh well - going for a soak in the bath now - DS is having his nap so I may as well - just hope it makes this niggly tummyache/backache go away. Maybe theres something to be said for induction after all...I mean you know you're going into labour when you're induced rather than this uncertain feeling of have I eaten something that disagrees with me? Or is this the start of labour? Spose I will find out in the next few days.

just checking in quickly en route for a nap (baby sleeping)... thinking of you SM. gosh, this reminds me how glad i am not to be pregnant anymore. the suspense, the boredom, the discomfort... but you're nearly there.
oh, and bowels were definitely a good indicator for me.

Hope you enjoyed your bath SM!

If its any consolation I am having the same problems
as you, strong braxton hicks and the feeling of needing the loo.

I suspect you will be first as I still have a few weeks to go!

Hi BP, Girly
Nice to hear from you both.
Aaaah baby sleeping...can't wait!
Is he a good sleeper and feeder yet then BP? Is it wierd to have a newborn to look after again? Getting all DS baby clothes out was strange - can't imagine having a tiny baby again!! Looking forward to it tho!! Its great to hear from you!

Girly bath was wonderful thankyou even tho bump is 1/2 out of the water!! I think of myself as a pig on a spit coz I lie on one side, then my back, then the other side and finally onto my front for 30 seconds!! The bathroom floor is awash by the time I've finished but at least all of me gets to enjoy the warm water if not all at the same time!!!

I think todays been hard coz DS seems to be under the weather complaining of a sore ear and hes had a temp and DH had taken the day off to 'help' me with DS however he was feeling the effects of his cold and spent most of the afternoon in bed and to top it all off one of my front teeth is aching like crazy.

Oh well - gonna watch friends at 8.30 - its the one where Rachael gives birth so should be good for a giggle!!! Doesn't look like theres anything else on worth watching....unless I'm missing something?

Hi all - and thanks to our 'graduate' for checking in . I'm with everyone else on the BH, they seem to be more intense now. My two are both head down, twin one is apparently 3/5 engaged but I think no.2 is trying to pip him/her to the post judging by the amount of elbowing I'm feeling
SM, Girly - the bowel thing does indeed sound like a good thing. Apparently walking up and down stairs can help get things moving - yeah, I know, like you really feel like doing stairs at the moment, but I remember the MW telling me that last time.
I'm so huge that stairs are torture, and I think I'd burn out the motor on even an industrial sized Stannah

Will one up and one down of the stairs do Bubble?!?!
Think thats about all I can manage!!!

Still here.
Sweep done but they didn't think it would have any effect as my score was only 5/10. Cervix is still 2cm long so has some way to go before I'm ready to pop.

Induction booked for Fri 11th. 8 days from now. Another whole week and a day of waddling with a sore pelvis and chronic heartburn. Oh joy.

Had a false alarm yesterday, am 1 cm dilated and baby is 2/5 engaged, but could stay like this for a few weeks yet.

sigh!

SKM have you tried sex yet? I know the prospect prob makes you cringe/laugh1 but it can help things along, so I have heard.

I have not reached the desperation stage yet but will give anything a go nearer the time

Girly
Yyup tried sex with lots of huffing puffing giggling and effort (and that was just getting our clothes off!! ) I even propositioned DH after our hospital aptmt yesterday before he went back to work but he declined for some reason?!

Still here in case anyone was wondering.... exactly a week overdue.
Had tummy ache and backache all Fri night and Saturday but guess what?!?!?! Yup, no pains or twinges or anything today!! Oh well, resigned myself to giving birth on Friday when I go in to be induced so just going to enjoy this last week now.

Now then, should I go to aquanatal tomorrow?! Reckon they'll ban me from the pool if they know I'm 8 days over!! Tee hee. Wonder if they'd bill me draining and cleaning the pool if my waters went during the session.
