Muffled movement

Hello

I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant and driving myself crazy with monitoring movement. Midwife says ensure it’s the ‘normal’ pattern for you, however my baby doesn’t seem to have a pattern around 27 weeks I was getting painful kicks that would move my stomach, now I get more rolling/muffled movements.

she does usually move more after eating but not always, I guess I’m asking how would you know when to call for advice. Since I have had more muffled movements I’ve had my 28 week midwife appointment and everything is looking good, maybe these gentle kicks are the new normal I don’t know, and seem to spending a lot of time everyday trying to monitor movements and debating whether to call triage. I’m getting regular movements just more gentle that before.

any advice on when you should seek advice/ as don’t think I can carry on in this state of constant worry for smoother 12 weeks!!!

thankyou

Call your midwife to ask for advice.

Keep a basic diary of movements to identify regular times etc.

Second the advice to be seen BUT...I'm 27+4 and having the same thing. I was hooked up to a monitoring machine in maternity unit on Monday night and baby seemed quieter that day and movements felt more muffled compared to huge kicks over the weekend. I was surprised when I was on the machine how much movement the monitor picked up that I actually couldn't feel. Midwives were happy for me to go home but all the pressure to just "know" is crippling to me tbh.

As I write this, I can see my belly twitching, definitely from baby, but I can't feel much actually kicking. 😵‍💫

My baby's pattern is also a bit vague - definitely not clockwork so I've sort of split it up into windows e.g. before breakfast, morning, lunch, afternoon, before dinner, after dinner, evening and bedtime. I eat lunch at the same time every day but the movements can be while I eat or an hour or two hours later. 🤷🏼‍♀️

In terms of knowing when to call - I've been in twice for reduced movements. They've told me to just always come in if there's even a tiny bit of doubt - even if it means coming in lots of times. It's no trouble and they're open 24/7 so ring in the middle of the night if you're even a little bit worried. Some babies never really have a pattern so some people end up going in more often than others, I think.

It's gonna be a loooong 12 weeks...

Thankyou for your advice guys, I decided to give them a call especially as I had a horrible lightheaded dizzy spell when walking the dog. Turns out my blood pressure was very low 81/54 and my heart rate was 120, but baby was absolutely fine, they hooked me up and monitored her for 30 mins and her movements were ok and her heart rate was fine, and they made me drink 1 litre of water that got my blood pressure to 91 systolic.

I feel reassured for going in and glad I did so thankyou for advice. I asked about whether to come in if the movements just feel dull or more gentle and the midwife said anything that is not ‘normal’ 🤣 so frustrating as there isn’t a clear answer so I think if I am worrying I just go in, she did say even at 29 weeks there is a lot of space and when baby moves position it can change how the kicks feel which is reassuring
