40+5, going a bit mad

40+5 with second baby. With my first I went into labour on my due date so this is new territory for me!

Trying to enjoy the waiting and chill / get as much sleep as I can while I can but I just feel so on edge and impatient 🙈

Also having to just stay off WhatsApp as SO MANY messages! I know people mean well but honestly we will let you know if there is anything to tell.

Every morning I’m waking up thinking well that’s another day gone but I guess there’s a small chance of labour starting in the day 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve had no twinges or early labour signs really. Anyone gone from zero to something happening in the middle of the day or is that wishful thinking? 😂

Thanks all. @FlyingHighFlyingLowyou’re giving me hope!!

Omg @brambles89what a nightmare all round 😫I hope you can get some time to relax as that is a LOT on top of waiting for a baby!!!

@TappingFingers it’s far from ideal! Self esteem has definitely taken a bit of a nose dive in the last few weeks 😆

do you have an induction date booked? Mine is for Saturday

TappingFingers · 31/03/2025 10:42

@brambles89I bet 😩 that’s great you have an end date though! Not yet, I really wanted to let things happen naturally but still getting absolutely zero indication that will happen so I’m considering it now 😬 I’ve got the midwife tomorrow so will see what she thinks….

I’m holding on to the posts where people went from nothing to labour out of the blue 😂. I also keep assuming it will happen at night so every morning I’m like “not today then” but I guess it’s possible to start in the day..

@TappingFingers me too! I almost know it’s not the day before i’ve fully woken up. It really does set a tone of disappointment for the day but I cheer up as the day goes on.

with my other two I had x1 sweep and then woke up next morning with a show and definite backache which i knew were the start! Babies born before dinner time same day!

Good luck with your appointment, I also have one tomorrow so hopefully we get some good news/advice!

I've gone from 0 to full blown labour twice so it can definitely happen!
Dc1 - had a sweep at 12pm, midwife wasn't convinced it would work and no signs after that apart from very mild lower back ache. At 5pm I suddenly had to rush to the toilet - had diarrhoea, bloody show and contractions lasting a minute, 5 mins apart all at once - she was born 9hrs later, on due date.
Dc2 - no sweep this time. Went to bed at 40+1 with no signs, woke up abruptly at 1am with the same as before, contractions 5mins apart and he was born 5hrs later.
Currently 39+3 and really hoping it's the same this time round as I definitely don't have any signs and already fed up of people asking - at least let me get to edd before pestering (not that I'll be happy about it then either!)

TappingFingers · 01/04/2025 00:50

Wow @Threelittlebirds1that’s some quick progress! I hope you get the same again!

Ah @brambles89good luck as well - they’ve got to come at some point right 🤣

My first was 15 days late, not sure they allow it these days!

TappingFingers · 02/04/2025 14:10

How is everyone waiting getting on?

Ended up having one of those 0-100 experiences out of nowhere 😱 no signs at all before it started so if you’re waiting it actually can happen like others have said!

Hope the babies come soon for those waiting xx

@TappingFingers aw congratulations!

as did I! Less than two hours from waters breaking spontaneously and baby being born. Had to factor in an hour car journey to hospital too! Crazy! Definitely worth being overdue for the short labour. Hope you’re keeping well and enjoying the cuddles. Take care! X

TappingFingers · 02/04/2025 15:23

Ahhhhh congratulations @brambles89- yes I totally agree, better to wait in relative comfort 🤣

Congratulations @TappingFingers and @brambles89 great news that it happened so quickly for both of you!
Very much hoping for a similar experience, but keep hearing how third babies are often the wildcard!

TappingFingers · 02/04/2025 20:26

Good luck @Threelittlebirds1! Let us know 😃

Ahhh congratulations @TappingFingers and @brambles89! Baby three has arrived here at 40+2 but it was definitely NOT a 0-100 type of experience! More of a series of false starts ending in induction… But we are safe and sound and delighted so all’s well that ends well! ❤️

TappingFingers · 03/04/2025 00:30

Congratulations @NectarinetinI’m sorry it wasn’t straightforward but glad you are all well and happy!!

Congratulations. Take it mum and baby are well. Very exciting.

I'm 37 weeks today so guessing it'll happen sometime between now and 5 weeks time...

Hoping it'll be sooner.

TappingFingers · 03/04/2025 08:42

We are thank you @Beeches24! Recovering pretty well and still in awe that a baby was in there the whole time and is now just out and in the world 😃

Ohhh the best of luck, I hope it’s sooner than later for you!!
