Paying back enhanced mat pay? Teacher

Hi guys i am considering not returning to work as a teacher. However as i had enhanced mat leave i know i would need to pay this back if i don’t return for 13 weeks. I was wondering if anyone has done this and how exactly this is paid back? Eg do you they take it out of your last pay?

Depending on what enhanced pay you got it would be unlikely that the entirety would be able to be reclaimed from the last 1 pay

No they wont take it out of your last pay because it wont be enough? I think you might be able to arrange a payment plan but they might ask for it in one go

this was my schedule
full pay for the first four weeks, 90% for the next two, and 50% plus SMP for the following 12 weeks, And then the rest smp

You will need to sit and calculate how much your enhanced is, which is anything over the SMP, and decide if you can afford to pay it back

Your final salary won't cover the full amount owed. You will get a nill payslip for your final salary where they will recover as much as they can and then you will have an invoice sent to you. Usually payable within 30 days but they may agree to a repayment plan.

Have you considered going back for a term? I worked with someone who had twins and her parents moved in to look after them just for the term.

Unlikely they will just take any money from our salary as they need your written permission to do so.
They will owe you holiday pay also (you'll need to remind them).
Don't forget you will likely be contractually obliged to end your contract only on one if the three specific dates in the year (unless they agree otherwise).
