Twin Pregnancy and Single Pregnancy Differences?

Just curious as to what differences people found between having a single pregnancy and a twin pregnancy?

Were you showing sooner?
Did you have worse/heigtened symptoms?

Would love to hear people's experiences... I'm 8 weeks and keep having dreams I'm having twins 🤣

I was showing sooner. Less nauseous than with first pregnancy but had a strong feeling it was twins (scoffed at by a friend when I mentioned that I felt it might be as no twins in the family, later she said ‘you knew’!)

let us know in a few weeks after first scan!

I already have twins and am pregnant now with a singleton. I was way more exhausted in my twin pregnancy in the first trimester. I’ve been tired this time round too but it hasn’t felt as intense? Even though I’ve got two 4 year olds to look after! I started showing at 12 weeks… this time my waistband has felt tight from 10 weeks but it’s hard to tell if that’s because it’s my second pregnancy!

I also had more headaches with my twin pregnancy than so far with this one. Less nauseous with twin pregnancy than with singleton (which is the opposite of what you’d expect!) I guess all pregnancies are just different, and it could be down to 1 or 2 babies being in there or just a coincidence! X

More nausea and vomiting (lasted till birth).
Was showing very early, measured full term at 20 weeks, was on bedrest by 24 weeks and in hospital at 35 (as opposed to working till 39 weeks with dc1). Induced at 37 (rather than spontaneous with singleton). More monitoring, more scans. Much more exhausted.
Better birth and recovery with twins. Lots of medical staff trying to convince me I needed a c-section (as opposed to never being mentioned with dc1).

I got big very quickly with twins (that’s what alerted me to the fact that something wasn’t ‘right’. I could feel my womb floating up near my navel around 12 weeks 😳 lols).

The nausea lasted well into the second trimester then started up again in the third!

I had to eat every three hours without fail for almost the entirety of my twin pregnancy or I would feel dreadful.

I was struggling to walk by 4-5 months.

Their birth was fast and straightforward, luckily. But tiredness was another big thing and lasted all of the pregnancy. (Even during the labour all I wanted to do was lie down and do nothing 😂)

So, yes, my twin pregnancy was tough… But it’s very special and fascinating to learn about the biology of twins (and the different types of identical twins - whether they share a placenta, chorion and amnion).

Thanks 🌟 I love hearing everyone's experiences, I'm just curious as to whether I have just the one or multiples.

I know every pregnancy is different but with my son I literally had no symptoms at all other than the odd migraine and didn't start showing until the later weeks like 25+.

But this time round i think I've fallen asleep every single day like after work, I'm unbelievably tired and just yawning constantly. Also can't stop eating, to the point it's not morning sickness but nausea from not eating, if I go more than a few hours without food I start to feel awful 😔 And I also feel like my stomach is starting to show already 😳 I know it's probably bloat but I was never like this before.

With my twins was falling asleep all the time too, at least before the nausea and vomiting kicked in. Then I became really sick vomiting all the time so much so by the time I went for the early scan and she said twins, I actually want surprised. Had nausea right until the week before I gave birth whereas the first 2 tailed off after the first trimester. I didn't show as much in my first 2. Even my second one with scrubs at work was hardly noticeable. Whereas with the twins I was carrying this big ball of God knows what around. We didn't tell everyone we were having twins as we wanted them to be surprised but my mum kept on saying you just look soooo big. Are you sure you're not having twins? I have a strong family history though with my GM having 3 sets of twins and her sister the same. And I can sometimes tell I've ovulated on both sides ( I get ovulation pain)!

The biggest differences for me were that by 6 months I was the size I was at term with a singleton and there was another 10 weeks to go. The last two months were very uncomfortable. The feel of the babies movements felt different from a singleton pregnancy. Just little nudges rather than the big movements I'd experienced with one towards the end.

My birth was good. The first was head down and the breech birth of the second was pretty quick.
