Would you get an NIPT with these results?

I’m 39 due my second child and the NHS combined results have come back as NT 1.6mm and less than 1 in 5000 risk for all three conditions. My age risk is 1 in 137. Based on these results would you still get an NIPT test done because of my age?

I had very similar NHS results with DC2 aged 39 and still decided to have the NIPT for peace of mind. You can also find out the sex if you want to

It's an entirely personal decision.

I didn't have one when I was pregnant with my first at 37 but with my second at 42, I actually paid for the NIPT before my 12 week scan.
I just 'knew' my age would bump me to high risk and wanted to alleviate that worry.

I was under the impression from my midwife that the age risk is generic (i.e. another woman of the exact same age would get the same result), whereas your individual results are based on you specifically. These suggest your baby is in the lowest possible risk category for having the conditions. I got the same results - 1 in 5000 for each condition and then an elevated age related risk (I was 37 at time of testing and it was 1 in 193). A friend of mine who's 9 years younger had an age related risk which looked far higher than the individual risk, though obviously it was lower than mine.

I wouldn't read into it if I were you, or maybe ask your midwife for clarification as to what numbers mean. I was assured that I was in the best possible position for my age and didn't need any further testing. All was perfect at my 20 week scan.

@CharlieAndMoose Thank you I was thinking the same. If my individual risk is the lowest risk they give, am I not just at the same odds as someone younger than me with the same result, who wouldn’t think to get additional testing? I think I will talk with my midwife as well.
