Did anyone have daily bleeding with subchorionic hematoma?

I’ve been bleeding a little every day since 4 weeks! Then at nearly 7weeks I had a big bleed and passed a huge clot. Had another bleed the next day. Since then, I’ve bled more heavily every day…always bright red blood. Sometimes just there on the pad (always there!). Sometimes it gushes out. Had an another really big bleed the other day, and since then it’s slowed down but still get little gushes each day. Has anyone else had this? Is it okay to just bleed every single day? I spoke to my doctor yesterday and he organised a blood test, but won’t get results until Monday (it’s Saturday today). He said if bleeding gets worse then go to a&e, but it doesn’t often gush. It’s just…always bleeding a bit. I’ve read some stories but haven’t seen anyone saying they bled a lot every day, more like they had a bleed or two throughout the pregnancy. Oh and I’ve had 3 scans, and baby is thankfully fine. I should say I’m almost 9 weeks. Tia x

Hi. I had bleeding for 10 days straight with dd2 and all was fine
But that being said, my pregnancy before this I had daily bleeding only on the evenings with a few cramps and only slight spotting when I wiped for 2 weeks before I then miscarried properly and bled heavily for another week
Finger crossed its a good ending for you

Thank you for your message. I’m sorry to read about your mc ❤️
I do think all will be fine with my baby, as the hematoma is underneath, so I’m thankful for that. Just a bit shocked at bleeding every day and wondering how much is safe for a person to bleed 😅 I’ve started to visualise the hematoma will be absorbed back into my body, which I know is very possible. So hopefully all bleeding will stop soon 🙏

in my son's 3rd pregnancy i had constantly big bleeds (had to go for a scan each time to make sure baby was ok) from around 7weeks right up until 28weeks which is when it all went away!! wasn't allowed to have sex, i got told to take it easy.. but my SCH was a big 1, so i assume the little bugger when he implanted must of hit hard 👊🏼 😂😂

angelxbellx · 22/03/2025 19:42

Oh thank you for your response, it really helps knowing that someone else went through a lot of big bleeds. It’s so scary losing so much blood all the time. Haha yes actually I’m pretty sure I felt the implantation, so perhaps there’s something to that 😁

@angelxbellx yes it is, i will never forget the first time it happened to me either 🤦🏻‍♀️ but thats what the midwife explained to me a hematoma was basically - like a bruise on the uterine wall where baby implants causes blood vessels to leak and cause a pool of blood basically to gather up'.. aslong as it is no where near baby/or sac everything should be ok but there can be a misscarriage risk (i didnt get told that at the time, only learned this after i had him & thought i suppose i am/he was, one of the lucky ones) and when we bleed its our bodies way of getting rid of it, or sometimes if its a small hematoma it can be reabsorbed! x

I had so much bleeding in my pregnancy. I spent the first 12 weeks in and out of EPU, thinking I was having a miscarriage. I then had occasional spotting but then at 23 weeks I had a huge bleed in the middle of the night. It filled 2 pads in an hour and I was certain it was a miscarriage. That's when my scan showed I had a 10cm hematoma. I just had to take things easy after that and avoid anything too strenuous. Thankfully, I didn't have any more issues, other than occasional spotting, and the hematoma reabsorbed! Amazing since it was so big! My baby was absolutely fine. I hope the bleeding stops for you soon and you can enjoy your pregnancy.

angelxbellx · 22/03/2025 20:41

@XMummyTo5Xoh wow, thank you for explaining that! The sonographers gave no explanation as to why this happens, so that’s interesting to know what it is and what causes it. Must be such a relief to just get through it all and have it in the past. I’m happy it worked out for you ☺️ x

@totallyaddictedtocheesethank you for your message, and for your good wishes. That must have been terrifying to have such a bleed at 23 weeks. How amazing your body reabsorbed it, that gives me hope knowing it’s possible to do that with such a big one. I’ve spent the day on the couch and have definitely had waaay less bleeding today, so I suppose that’s the order going forward. Thank you ☺️

@angelxbellx i asked what caused it thats why, but each time it happened, i was frantic and hysterical, the fear of just feeling gushes of bright red blood literally pour out of you & soak your clothes is just something else isnt it 😭 but i am really glad that my son is here earth side and soon will be turning 7 🥰 is your hematoma away from the baby/sac? have they pointed anything like that out to you? x

stackhead · 22/03/2025 22:04

I bled roughly every 2 weeks (a decent gush each time followed by a few days of spotting) until about 28 weeks ish.

It was absolutely terrifying each time. The fear of going to the toilet just in case I saw red when I wiped was real.

I think it's more common than we realise!

My bleedy pregnancy is now 5 months old and snoring.

I never got an explanation, just that some women bleed 🤷‍♀️

Hope everything works out and yes do get checked everytime, especially as the pregnancy progresses. Felt like I lived in triage at one point but never felt like I was over reacting.

angelxbellx · 22/03/2025 22:07

@XMummyTo5XIt really is something else! Absolutely horrible and so worrying to lose so much.
It is below the baby/sac, so that’s one positive thing, the sonographer said baby is getting on quite happily and not being affected, thank god. So I’m very grateful for that. Just don’t want to bleed out over here, though I feel like if I went to a&e, they would say my levels are fine and send me home. So hard to know how much is too much 🙄

@stackheadaww congratulations on your 5 month old bundle 🥰 so good to read these happy endings. That’s a long time to have that going on, you must have been exhausted by it.
Yes it does seem to be pretty common.

And thank you so much, and for making me realise it’s okay to keep getting checked. I will do that ☺️

Hi OP I had a SCH and started bleeding with it at exactly 6 weeks. I had a scan at 7+6 which showed a baby with a heartbeat and a small 2cm is SCH. I bled everyday like a light period until I was 10 weeks when it changed to just some light spotting in the morning until completely stopping. I’m 13+2 now and had a good 12 week scan last week.

angelxbellx · 23/03/2025 11:15

@Tisfortired that’s such great news ☺️ brilliant you had a good 12 weeks scan and the bleeding has stopped too - exhausting seeing the blood every day. Must be so relieving when it finally stops, I can’t wait, haha!!

I pretty much bled the whole way through my first pregnancy from around 6 weeks. I had a very, very big bleed at 36 weeks where I was admitted to hospital and offered a C-section, or to have a steroid injection to strengthen baby’s lungs if they decided to make an early entrance. Baby was always showing signs of being healthy when monitored so I opted to keep her cooking with monitoring. She held on until 38+1 and then arrived through spontaneous labour. I had post partum haemorrhaging after delivery and was put on a drip etc, and the anaesthesiologist arrived incase I needed an emergency blood transfusion, but thankfully I didn’t, and my baby was born perfectly healthy and unaware of the worries! She’s a happy and healthy 4 year old now. :) Just sharing so that you can ask your healthcare team about delivery procedures just incase you have a bleed after delivery too. I’m expecting my second baby in May and my care team said from day 1 that I’d be delivering in hospital with canulas etc already inserted just incase of PPH again.

Wishing you and your baby all the best for your pregnancy moving forwards.

If it easier your mind, I also didn't clot properly and was borderline for a transfusion with my 1st, my second I had no problems post delivery! I was shocked when I first stood up and didn't feel like I was about to collapse 🤣

That’s very reassuring, thank you! I’m glad you had a less worrisome delivery second time around. Here’s hoping for the same! 🤞🏼
