Hi all,
so I found out was pregnant 8 days before my period was due. I tested during the day on 5 different tests all all showed a strong positive. I’m still 2 days before my period and showing 2-3 on clear blue.
i had sex on the 4th march so how am i showing 2-3 and getting a positive so early? Could it be twins? My heads all over the place

You need to count from the first day of your last period

At this point as the PP said you just use last period to date for now. Unless you were tracking ovulation you don’t really know when you conceived. It’s possible you ovulated the day you conceived, which would make you 2 weeks since ovulation, which is 4 weeks pregnant. So the 2-3 weeks test would fit with that. If you ovulated on 4th March, you are 2 weeks and 1 day post conception. Which is just over two weeks, meaning 2-3 is spot on.

But in official dating terms you just use your last period until the 12 week scan.

8 days before a missed period is a lot. You typically ovulate 12-14 days before your missed period, and the embryo doesn't even implant until day 10 so it isn't detectable before then. Never mind a strong positive on several tests throughout day. 2 days before my missed period I had a super faint band with very concentrated first morning urine.

Is it possible your 'last period' was infact implantation bleeding and you're a month further on than you thought? I never put much stock in the digital how many weeks tests, notoriously inaccurate.

4th March is 2 weeks and 1 day ago, so the Clear Blue is accurate in that it’s between 2-3 weeks.

if you have a 28 day cycle, assuming sex happened on the day of ovulation, it places you at 4 weeks, plus 1 day pregnant.

The Clear Blue test dates from conception, whereas pregnancy is calculated from first day of the left period - you’re considered two weeks gone at the day of conception.

Agreed you can’t get a positive test 8 days before your period. So without knowing the OPs cycle length it’s likely she ovulated earlier than would normally be expected in her cycle and she is just over 2 weeks past conception.

That's assuming you ovulate on day 14 though. If you ovulated on day 10 or earlier you could feasibly get a positive by day 20.

If you ovulate on day 10 you’re unlikely to have a 28 day cycle though. That would mean an 18 day luteal phase which isn’t normal (not impossible though but is normally related to hormonal issues). Without knowing how long the OPs cycle length normally is and without her tracking ovulation no one can say when she would have got her period or exactly the day she ovulated. You can only go by the possible conception date and her positive tests. Which all imply she ovulated the day she had sex or very soon after. Meaning she is just over 2 weeks past conception and just over 4 weeks pregnant in dating terms.

Edited to add. It isn’t how long before you expect your period you can test positive. It’s how many days past conception. Most people will get a positive by about 12dpo. It’s impossible before 6dpo. Many get a positive by 8dpo. So that’s how it should be looked at. Not when a period was expected as if you aren’t tracking you’re only going by previous cycles.
For people with a short luteal phase of 10 days they may not get a positive until after their period is due. Those with a 14 day may test positive 4 days before.
