What to expect from first consultant appointment?

this is my first pregnancy and I’m currently 20 weeks. Due this being an ivf baby and the fact that I have a fibroid, I am under midwife and consultant care. We have our first appointment with the consultant next week and I was just wondering what I can expect from this appointment? Is there anything I should do to prepare in terms of questions etc? I realise it may vary from Trust to Trust but some kind of steer would be immensely helpful. I am completely clueless!! Thank you so much!

I think it'll vary depending on your reasons for being consultant led but my first appointment was a chat more than anything..... nothing I really needed to 'prepare for'

We went over the reasons I was high risk, what kind of birth I hoped for and then made a loose plan for the rest of my appointments/scans during the pregnancy.

Yeah I don't think you need to prepare anything per say. They will probably request some extra scans for you towards the later part of your pregnancy and might talk to you about the fibroid/s depending on how big it is. It's probably worth asking if you will see them again after each extra scan or if the midwife will review the scans (this varies between hospitals). You probably won't have another consultant appointment for a few months (often first seen at 16 weeks, then either 28 or 36 depending on the hospital) and will see you midwife in between.

Thanks @sel2223 in all honesty I’m not totally clear why I’m seeing the consultant. I think it’s my age, the fact that this is an ivf pregnancy and the fact I have quite a big fibroid. I will of course be asking about this when we meet. I think it will be good to discuss birth choices and any further appointments and scans.

Thank you @Cosmos24 I’ll be nearly 22 weeks when I see them and have only seen midwife up until now so I’m going to take that as a good sign that they aren’t too worried. It will certainly be good to get some clarification as to when I might see them again or how many extra scans I might have.
