34 weeks transverse with anterior placenta

Looking for some people who have been in a similar position. I am now 34 weeks pregnant and my baby is still transverse! He is curled up in a ball with his head under my right ribs and his bum poking out my left side. He was head down at 28 weeks but flipped transverse at 31 and hasn't moved since (32 week growth scan confirmed position). What are the chances he will flip head down on his own?

I have a midwife appointment in a couple days so I plan on asking my midwife but thought i'd get some opinions here too. From what i've read online because of my anterior placenta I might not be allowed to have EVC but i'd like to avoid a c-section if possible

My first was transverse with an anterior placenta for a long time but did go head down by 36 weeks!
Fingers crossed your baby does too.

Hey OP, there’s plenty of time for him to move. In the meantime have a look at the spinning babies website xx

I've been doing the inversions from there, hubby thinks I'm crazy when I get the ironing board out 😂

My eldest was transverse at 32 weeks but by 36 weeks was head down. My second was also transverse but again moved to head down shortly after my 32 week scan so there is hope!

You should know by now if your placenta is blocking the exit?

OP hasn't said anything about the placenta blocking the exit?

Sorry I read EVC and vbac - my mistake.

32 week scan confirmed I do not have a low lying placenta, that was the reason for the scan to begin with!

Will you have another scan at 36 weeks OP?

My first was transverse for ages, turned cephalic on his own in time for my induction, then during the induction did a 180 and was footling breech presentation so I ended up with an EMCS after 2 days of induction 🫠 I didn't really realise he had turned because of the anterior placenta, even though I'd felt movement. I remember they were struggling to get his heart beat on the monitor.

This baby is also transverse with an anterior high placenta and I'm trying to get them moving but more to make myself more comfortable as I've scheduled a CS this time around. Also been trying the spinning babies malarkey to no avail.

They said no after the 32 week scan because my placenta has moved high enough and he's tracking at 52nd percentile, I have a midwife appointment on Thursday so maybe she'll refer me for another 🤔

Yeah his positioning is quite uncomfortable! Fingers crossed he flips head down soon

Not an anterior placenta but my youngest was transverse at 36 weeks. She flip flopped all over the place before that (I had extra scans every 2 weeks for other reasons - that how we knew). She turned by herself (from breech at that point) at 37 weeks while I was at the ECV appointment. They scanned me she was breech but by the time the consultant arrived she had turned around. I'd say dont worry yet.

Same with my baby, the rib pain was insane! I wanted to avoid anything too invasive so went for acupuncture with moxi, felt the baby turn a few days later. Was just over 34 weeks when I had it, I know people say they could still turn themselves but I wasn’t willing to risk it when I could try something relaxing & none invasive. Look it up, surprisingly it’s more successful than having them turned manually!

I might look into this if he still hasn't turned in a week or two!

Good luck, hope they do turn of their own accord. Just to mention, it might be worth a phone call/ email enquiry with a practitioner just in case as I’m sure my lady said there is a point they like to do it by for higher success rates but I can’t remember off of the top of my head when it was.

For anyone in a similar situation looking for answers, I spoke to my midwife yesterday who said not to worry until my next appointment at 36 weeks. If at that point he still hasn't turned then I will have another scan and take it from there, in the meantime she told me to take lots of baths and try relax and this can help them turn on their own!

DD2 was identified as breech at 36w - at our hospital everyone has a 36w scan as standard. She had previously been transverse as well. I declined ECV and booked an ELCS. I was checked at 39+1 and she was still breech. She was born vaginally at 39+3 because when I presented at triage after my waters broke / contractions started, she was head down!! I had felt a pain on 39+2 that at the time I thought was just because I overstretched but I now think that was her turning. So don't lose hope.

I would really recommend arranging a birth options discussion with a consultant midwife. We specifically discussed ECV vs vaginal breech delivery vs ELCS. I found it so helpful. If you can book that now, you might find it useful as I was asked to make a lot of quick discussions after my 36w scan when I felt like I needed more time to think about things.

My appointment in two weeks is an hour long where we go through my birth plan/options anyway, I've already started my own research but she said she would go through all my options with me then if he still hasn't turned. I think i'd prefer a vaginal birth either way so we will just have to see what happens
