Hi everyone,
looking for experiences of this and hoping for reassurance.
for context I’ve had several first trimester miscarriages and I am a high risk pregnancy (not helping my anxiety!).

From 14 weeks I had subtle but distinctive ‘baby bubbles’ and twitches but in the last three days - I’m now in week 17 I’ve felt nothing.

i am absolutely aware that you don’t feel baby movements until 20+ weeks but I’m worried as for me the consistency for my body has stopped ie no more baby bubbles.

i just wanted to know if this is something others have experienced?

I still have pregnancy symptoms….sore boobs, awful heartburn, constipation (the joys) so this is reassuring but I just need to hear this is normal xx

It will have lots of stop starts at the beginning, this is totally normal while baby is still so teeny.

Please don't worry at 17 weeks. The pattern and frequency/strength of movements is going to change a lot over the next few months.

You should settle into 'your' pattern around 28 weeks at which point it is easier to keep track of what's normal or not for your baby.

I found the bit between the 12 and 20 week scans one of the most anxious times in pregnancy..... it's like being in limbo. On/off movements, no strong kicks yet, symptoms start to fade, no real bump yet etc. I had days where I didn't even feel pregnant.

Crocmush · 16/03/2025 10:45

I think that is totally normal. Positioning will be changing every week. But it's also totally normal to be second guessing everything when you've experienced losses! Do you live somewhere where you can get reassurance scans?

Lalaloul · 16/03/2025 10:56

Thanks everyone for sending such kind replies, I need to hear this.

ive had 4 scans on the NHS due to my medical history and ongoing conditions and every scan has been as good as you could wish for.
My screening bloods were also great with the lowest possibility of genetic conditions tested (I’m 41 so this was a huge relief)

we also had a reassurance scan and sex scan last week and baby is measuring well (one of the reasons I’m being monitored) and we’re having a girl 💓 the sonographer was thorough and was very happy.

my next scan is at 20 weeks and then I have scans on the nhs every couple of weeks and consultant led which is reassuring but also a reminder I’m high risk.

i had a shitty experience with a midwife who told me off for being anxious and I should be grateful for the extra attention 🙄
she didn’t even know what my medical history was so I had to explain it to her! She also said right at the end don’t trust private scans. Totally unnecessary thing to say. the private scan we went to confirms it’s not just a souvenir scan.

sorry for the long ranty, stressy response just a lot going on in my head xx

Just to say my last scan was private x

Ah that's sounds like a good amount of monitoring then you just need to keep plodding on between appointments. I had a baby at 41 too, I was nervous throughout but he arrived perfectly, unaware of all the stress he'd caused me with every twinge! I have a good feeling about your little girl 👍

Thank you so much 🥹 you’re right my lovely community midwife said just take every day and appointment at a time and not to think of the whole picture as it can be overwhelming.

My little girl is probably having a lovely sleep or chilling out in there whilst I go crazy 🤪 😅

Good luck with your pregnancy @Lalaloul
I conceived at 41 and am now 42, at the opposite end of it all - 38+2 and willing her out now!
