Buggy board for older disabled child

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has been in a similar position and found a solution that works. I’m due my second child in June. I already have a 5 year old who will be 6 in August. He has always been in a buggy when out and about due to sensory overload and no danger awareness. I’m trying to figure out what to do when the baby comes. As no double buggies will fit him in due to his weight. I’ve been looking at buggy boards but most of them seem to only go to 19kg. Which means he’d be too heavy for most of them soon. On long days out we can still take his buggy as they’ll be more than just me. But I need a solution for quick trips out when it’s just me and the baby and him. So wondered if anyone had found a buggy board that goes up to a higher weight.

many thanks

My Cosatto Wow XL goes up to 25kg I believe as it's built in to the pushchair frame. Not sure how helpful a new pushchair is though, if you just want to attach a board to your existing pushchair.

I can’t help with a buggy board but if you need a double buggy, you can get ones that would accommodate DS. For example, look at Activate Tandem buggy. It has a seat for an older child with SN and different options for the second child including being able to have some infant carseats attached.

Alternatively, you could use a sling for DC2 to begin with. Then once DC2 is around 6 months look at the Buggypod which can attach to some SN buggies.

I haven’t actually bought a new pushchair yet. I’ve been struggling to decide! So this is good to know actually! I will defo see if I can go look at this! Thank you!

I will defo look into this option. I have got a sling and baby carrier for DC2 which I think will end up be my go to when having to go out with both of them! He doesn’t have a disability buggy yet but it is on my list of things to get and sort as he needs it. But I wasn’t aware you could get something for another child. So thank you!

A wagon would be worth a look. The wonderfold ones have adaptors you can buy that adapt the carseat to fit, so you could have baby in the car seat (which would be fine for up to 2 hours) and your DS in the wagon seat (DS would be strapped in- they have a 5 point harness system). Products – Wonderfold Wagon

If you are happy using a sling for DC2 to begin with, I would look at something like the Special Tomato EIO or Special Tomato Jogger. Then you can add the Buggypod when DC2 is around 6 months.

I was thinking of this for when DC2 was older and could sit up on there own. Didn’t know they did the car seat attachment part! Thank you!

Ask cerebra innovation centre. But will he be able to hold on and stand up? Or needs a seated contraption

i think he’d be fine standing. As he likes to be able to get off when he wants. I’ve never heard of the cerebra innovation centre. I will look into this for sure. I’m surprised there isn’t more out there that’s known! For the first time in a long time I feel like I’m clueless lol! Feel like we’re at the start of our journey all over again!

The only thing to note is that the adaptor is only available for the W range, which are the 4 seaters as the carseat will cover two of the seats :)

@xmasdealhunterThat’s fine I plan to be done with just the 2 lol! 😂 so would work hopefully till my oldest can walk better and be trusted!

I have the Lascal Maxi buggy board. Got it second hand off eBay for £20 and it's been great for my 5, almost 6 year old. Think it's a 24kg weight capacity on it.

Sorry not eBay, it was Facebook market place I got it from. Mainly just meaning you can get them cheaper than new. It was one of the best things I bought- it was so helpful :)
