Ulcerative colitis and birth plan - c section worries

Hi, I have UC and it has been suggested by my obstetrician that a c section may be a good idea. He hasn't said I have to have one, just that if I do tear when giving birth vaginally it can be a difficult healing process with possible complications. This is my first baby and tbh I don't like the sound of either options!! Does anyone have ulcerative colitis and recommend c section over vaginal birth?
Or can anyone reassure me about getting a c section?! Hate the thought of being cut open lol - not too fussed about recovery, I will cope.

Hi!! I have UC and asked for a section. The thought of tearing and stitches when possibly going through a flare up scared me so much.

I highly recommend the section. It was the most calm, beautiful experience I have ever had. You don’t see it happening. My husband was by my side, we had music playing, I had no pain. The baby was put on my chest and fed whilst they finished up (I didn’t even notice). I had skin to skin as long as I wanted. I regularly took paracetamol for 5 days after and had no issues at all. I was up walking as soon as the anaesthetic wore off. I walked around the park on day three. No issues with going to the toilet.

It was honestly one of the best experiences ever.

I haven't had your medical issue but I've had two emergency c-sections, both when fully dilated. I actually chose to have a section in my second labour rather than have a vaginal birth, despite my doctor's best efforts to get me to change my mind!

You will get good and bad experiences. I had a cat 1 (life threatening) c-section with my first and lots of complications. My second, although still an emergency, was a super easy recovery.

Could you have an appointment with the birth choices midwife to discuss the pros and cons again?

I have crohns and had two good vaginal births.
