Induction at St Michael's in Bristol- experiences & parking advice!

Evening,

I'm due to be induced, sometime from Wednesday onwards, at St Michael's in Bristol.

It's my first baby and I'd really appreciate hearing anyone's positive induction/birth stories, but also wondered if anyone can explain the parking?

We've been up and down for appointments a lot over the last few weeks and have spent a fortune- just wondered if you get any help/discount with this once there for induction/labour? Otherwise, it could be a rather expensive stay if it's a lengthy induction!

Thanks in advance 🙏🥰

It was a very long time ago but when I had mine there we get some kind of token or pass to put in the window once you're in labour ward, so you leave you car in the hospital car park for however long it takes.
Induction for me was long and boring, but it will be what it will be. Good luck 🙂

Hello. I had a c section there last year and you do get a token for I think 3 days worth of parking to start with (from delivery suite reception) and they said you can always get a spot in the St Michaels car park but this was not my experience so I wouldn’t bank on it. My partner doesn’t drive so I parked on street then panicked I’d get loads of tickets or towed so I got him to keep going down to the hospital car park until he found a space then I moved it (in my hospital gown and compression socks) right before I went to theatre. Then stressed about who was going to move it when we were discharged. It was a total nightmare but if your partner drives I think it would be fine! Just don’t expect to definitely get a space when you arrive. Your partner might need to keep nipping out!

Oh also care was great there! Good luck with the birth and your new baby!

Thank you @CheekyAquaBeaker & @StillSittingInACornerIHaunt - my husband is the driver luckily, and I'm also bringing my Mum so she'll be able to stay with me if he needs to nip out at all to move the car etc.

Hopefully, we'll get a space first time!🤞🤞

Long & boring is actually similar to what my midwife said to me- her advice was to expect days, and anything less is a bonus 😂

Hello! I had my DS in St Michael’s (he’s 7 now). I don’t remember much about the parking situation but I do remember the care was fantastic. The midwives were friendly and attentive, they couldn’t have done enough for me and my son. Induction was boring and took a day to get started but it is what it is.

I am expecting baby number 2 in July and will be at St Michael’s for this birth, too. I hope you have a lovely experience there.
