I had my anamoly scan. it was done by a sonographer.

I was expecting it to be done by a doctor. I am wondering now if I need to do a private scan to make sure everything is okay ( but the travel is the problem due to recent health complications)

Its an IVF pregnancy. may be I am too cautious, I dont know :)
Was your scan done by a sonographer or doctor ? Please share your experience 😊

Sonographer other than my 20 week scan which was done by a consultant after a high risk 12 week scan. Consultant nailed the cardiac diagnosis.

Specialist fetal echos done by a specialist cardiac sonographer, sometimes with residents doing part of them.

All done by sonographers, as it should be. It's a completely different skillset to a doctor!

Well that's not quite true.
Of course sonographers are well trained, highly skilled professionals who perform the vast majority of routine obstetric ultrasounds in this country, so the OP has nothing to be concerned about on that front. However, many doctors also regularly use ultrasound in their day to day practice, mainly radiologists obviously but also doctors in many other specialties. It is not a skill unique to sonographers. Maybe the OP has experience of being scanned by a doctor in other circumstances and was expecting the same again?
She has absolutely nothing to worry about with regards to a sonographer doing her scan but if it's not something you've experienced before it isn't entirely unreasonable to ask the question.

OP- I don't think anyone has mentioned that yes, a sonographer is the one normally performing the ultrasound. They are highly trained in getting the best images and measurements.

Its a radiologist who interprets the results and writes the report of the findings. They are a medical Dr, who has done additional training in medical imaging- reading X-Ray/Ultrasounds etc.

To add- when I had an NIPT and the results showed Patau syndrome, T13, I was called back in for a more detailed scan. It was still the sonographer performing it, but the consultant was standing there looking at the screen at the same time. He then wrote up a report afterwards having reviewed the scans more closely. He didn't perform the scan though.
