I can't stop eating and it's affecting my mental health

I'm in my second trimester and I genuinely can't stop eating, it's constant all day every day. Some days I feel sick from all the food and I still can't stop myself. It's mostly sugary stuff or junk food.

I'm a normal sized person with a BMI in the healthy range and usually have no issues with food control. I darent step on the scales because I can see I've put weight on and it's not just my bump.

Please tell me if there's anything I can do about this because it's really starting to upset me 24/7. I can't even look in the mirror. Is it something I can talk to my midwife about?

Definitely talk to your midwife.

Aside from that, maybe don’t buy the junk so you aren’t tempted?

Im binging on junk and I just won’t buy it. I am as lazy as I am hungry so if I don’t have it in the house, I can’t have it.

I hope you get the right support x

My problem is I'm not lazy enough. If I don't buy it then I'll finally a reason to go out and buy it while I'm out. I think I have a midwife appt next week so will bring it up. Thank you x

It genuinely is constant, every half an hour I'm back in the kitchen for something. I don't work so I'm home most of the time which doesn't help

Can you try to replace the junk and sugary food with healthier foods? Then it won't matter so much. Humous and carrots, salads with nice cheese? It's advisable to limit sugar to avoid developing gestational diabetes.

I’m with you!! I’m 17 weeks atm. Strawberry fizzy laces and crumpets seem to be my go to atm (hadn’t eaten them since I was a kid). Pre pregnancy I ran and went to the gym lots and was a really healthy weight. I feel too exhausted to make a healthy snack/ don’t fancy a carrot stick and just want something comforting. Like you, I dare not step on the scales! No advice but solidarity! Let me know if your midwife has any helpful advice!!!

I am a size 8 normally, usually eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly. Throughout both of my pregnancies I ate nothing but junk all day long and loads of it because it made my morning sickness slightly better. I didn't have gestational diabetes but I did have large babies! I put on loads of weight but after giving birth both times my eating habits went back to normal and I got back to my pre-pregnancy weight about a year postpartum.
