What is PAPP-A?

Just had my blood test results back for Edward's and Patau's syndrome, but does anyone know what the PAPP-A result means?

It's to do with the placenta and is part of the overall risk screening x

The unit used here, MoM, means multiple of median, so 1 would be bang on average and 1.74 means your PAPPa is a bit higher than average. It's part of the screening. Low PAPP-a can sometimes be a risk factor for pre-eclampsia but I don't know as much about high levels other than it factors into your screening results. https://www.esht.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/0835.pdf may be helpful background though as you'll see it's mostly about low levels.
