Maternity options

I am due to go on mat leave in June and have 2 options for mat pay which I can choose from, but need some help in exploring which one is better.

  1. 28 weeks full pay and then 11 weeks of SMP
  2. 14 weeks full pay then 28 weeks half pay (including SMP)
Any advice would be great!!

Have you calculated how much pay you would get in total for the different options?

I have for the first option but am unsure how half pay would be calculated, would it just be half of what my monthly intake is?

I would assume so, are you calculating pre-tax, or take home pay?

Is the half pay total including the SMP, or is it half pay plus SMP?

Trying to calculate take home pay and half pay is including SMP

Normally you get the same amount overall, whichever option you choose.

It's more about spreading out the finances in a way that suits you best and that's for you to decide really. You obviously need to do a bit of maths to work out how much you'd get each week. Get payroll to help you if you can't work it out.
