Honest opinions please. We’re expecting a girl and I love the name Rosa, but our surname is Rowe. Is Rosa Rowe a no go?

Lovely name but not with your surname, sorry

KenIsAnAccessory · 25/02/2025 10:27

I agree, lovely name but not quite right with your surname IMO.

I think you could get away with it if you have an ‘official’ longer name and then just used Rosa as a nickname/shortened version.

For example, Rosalie Rowe could work…

I think it goes really well! Sounds like a famous film star!

I actually love that name with you’re surname!

I don't think it's the double 'r', I think it's the 'row row' (row your boat)

In my opinion it might be awkward when you add background noise or phone muffle. I think might help to put a syllable or two inbetween,
Rosemary Rowe
Rosalie Rowe
Rosamund Rowe
Not Rosie Rowe, that's a bit twee.

It's absolutely fine. A lovely name. I like the double R. She will mostly only been known by her first and last name at school which is, in reality, such a short space of time in our lives. She may also get married and choose to take their name. Would you regret not using the name?
