Fake Amazon mattress?

Hey guys, I've gotten this great deal, £20 for a chicco next to me crib. In perfect condition. I'm aware to never use a second hand mattress, so I go on the website to see that a replacement chicco mattress is £60! I've seen a few on Amazon, that say made for Chicco beds, for £15. They say they follow British standards, but is it still safe to buy a third party mattress? If there's even a slight safety issue, I will just save up for a chicco mattress, I was just hoping some other mothers haven't had any issues and been able to save a few pennies. Thanks

Not sure about safety issues but we have an Amazon one and it's just about ok. Massive dents in it where my son's head is so we have to flip it regularly. I'd buy a proper one if you can afford it

He's not a big heavy baby either. Check the reviews at least anyway

I have stopped buying things on Amazon (apart from kindle books) after having bought some very convincing fakes.
Amazon does not do any quality control whatsoever, it lets pretty much anyone list things to sell. I would say chances are you have bought a fake bed and I would not use because if that’s the case, it almost certainly is not up to the safety standards. It is probably made in China like the genuine Chico beds but without the safety guarantees. (Consider that there was a physical Apple Store operating in China for months and months before even Apple realized all the products were fake!)
The previous poster’s comment about the baby’s head making indents in the mattress would have me worried that it’s too soft/ potential for suffocation.
The recommendations are it’s ok to use second hand mattresses if it is still firm and you can be sure it hasn’t been stored in a damp garage where mould might have grown on it.
Maybe you could keep the bed frame and buy a genuine Chico mattress from their official website?

We bought one in the Amazon warehouse deals for approx 30 pounds I think, it was a return with damage to the box. So worth a look their, keep the wooden board that's in the original, as am sure the replacement doesn't come with it, I could be mistaken though

The next to me I was looking at buying is second hand but legit; the mattress would be the only thing from Amazon. That's only because the ones I see on the chicco website are £80, which at that points makes me think to just buy a new crib. The ones I see have got the British standards attached to the them, but I do understand corruption happens.
