I'm 31 and I have 3 children all ready my youngest is 5
I have been careful for the last 3 years, having the injection (haven't had it for a year) morning after pill, pull out method etc

I thought I was so fertile but clearly I'm not because the last year I've not been exactly trying to get pregnant but if I did I would be over the moon.. I'm just wondering what are the chances of me getting pregnant at my age now? Does being in my 30s make any difference?

Being peri/menopausal matters more than your actual age and that can happen pretty much any time from 30s. I'm 35 and have PCOS and I'm pregnant (with a bit of medical help). Other conditions are more likely than age alone at this point.

I got pregnant at 39. At 31, with 3 kids, I should think that if you really put some effort into trying, it will more then likely happen. Your current age is no barrier at all. That’s younger then many women who don’t even start trying for their 1st until their late 30’s or even early 40’s.

The chances drop as you age but at 31 I would expect you to be fertile and have as good a chance as in your twenties without perimenopause or other ovulation factors.

Have you been having consistent sex with no luck or is the sex sporadic? You could just be missing your ovulation window every time. If you're interested in another child I'd get friendly with ovulation testing and seeing if you have any joy once you get a positive for a few months.

I concieved at 30 (mmc), 31 and 33. I never tried in my 20s so I couldn’t say but the three times I have tried all happened quickly. I did track ovulation to give each month the best chance.

Try tracking your ovulation to make sure you are ovulating. Are you getting frequent periods?

Unless there are underlining fertility issues I wouldn't assume there would be a problem - have you had any checks or anything done yet at this stage? I got pregnant with my first at 36 and then conceived my second at 38 whilst on the mini pill!

Of course you are. Loads of people get pregnant in their 30s and older you know 🙄

You actually need to be trying if you want a fighting chance, it takes a healthy couple a year to conceive.

I’d say pretty good given it’s around when most people are having first babies these days …….

The difference between age 25 and age 30 is something like 1 in 4 chance of conceiving each month to 1 in 5. If you've had healthy pregnancies previously, you should be totally fine. Worth actually putting some thought into when to try though, not exactly a hardship.

Bar one or two exceptions, everyone in my family/social circle has had their children over 31 years old - and the average age for a first child in the western world is now 30.

I wouldn't consider it too old in the slightest. I had my first at 37 and now pregnant with DD2 at 42!

If you are struggling to conceive, there may be fertility issues not related to age so worth contacting a doctor.
