34 weeks pregnant no energy

I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant and just have no energy. I'm not depressed because I really do love my life and feel very blessed BUT I am dreading everything at the moment. The thought of any plans makes me want to cry. Everything hurts from my feet to my back by about 2pm. I only look forward to 8pm so I can crawl into bed. Zero self care happening and struggling to do anything beyond the bare minimum around the house. I feel really supported so it is not that, I just feel like I'm running on 0 and have no patience or motivation. I was not like this with my first pregnancy. Is this normal?!! I'm sleeping great too!! Iron levels are fine.
(I did have hyperemesis until week 20 and was hospitalised a few times, but I am well and truly recovered now)

Oh OP it’s so hard getting nearer the end! Every pregnant is different and feeling ok in your first pregnancy doesn’t mean you’ll feel ok again. It could be worth asking your midwife to do an FBC but you’re very nearly at the end now. Take care

I'm 35 weeks and have really been suffering with fatigue and dizziness, turns out I'm anaemic so now taking iron. I also had similar in the second trimester and actually fainted a couple of times - that was put down to low BP.

I do think a lot of it is just the general 'joys' of the third trimester though. I feel like my entire body aches, I've recently developed PGP so really struggling with mobility, my insomnia is crazy because I just cannot get comfy and the heartburn is taking over my life!

The silver lining? We haven't got much longer to go! Good luck to you

I am just about 31 weeks pregnant and I feel similar to you. I am so tired (I’ve just been told I am low on iron) and I ache so much. Especially after being at work! I can hardly walk afterwards!
I am also really emotional too. As well as not being able to breathe and not being able to get comfortable and needing to pee 3 or 4 times a night. The joys! We can do this 💪🏻

It's normal!! If you had a really easy first pregnancy, this may be a shock but I was useless for 9 months basically.

Try and release some good endorphins. This might help with some motivation and ease the dread. Yes it’s normal to feel like this in the 3rd trimester but it’s obviously not getting you into a good headspace ready for birth.

try walking with a good podcast on or music. Eat nourishing foods for the body, high in protein, iron, leafy greens and full fat. Stay away as much as possible from sugar, caffeine and processed junk, this will not help with your energy.

take Vit d (I take 1000iu and this helps immunity and restful sleep, omegas high in dha & epa and kefir for the gut

plan things that make you happy, cinema (Bridget jones?) restaurant, decaf-coffee and walk with a friend, museum, sound bath or massage. Take extra naps to recharge.

here is a link to a really useful ‘non sleep deep rest meditation’ by an American neuroscientist called Andrew Huberman. It’s amazing. I’m 35 weeks and use it almost every day for recharging!

You’re almost there, chin up and focus on today, that’s all you need to do for now. Xx

You’re not alone OP, I’m 36 weeks tomorrow and feel so exhausted and fed up. My first pregnancy was a breeze and this time around everything has felt so bloody hard. We’re almost there!

I'm 33 weeks this Sunday and I'm the same! I'm still working full time (shifts) until 35 weeks and have epilepsy which pregnancy really affects (hormonal epilepsy).

I'm trying my best but by around 2/3pm I need a nap Grin I manage to get one in usually when my daughter's at school... I just can't wait to finish work now, I could have around 26 weeks easily but didn't want stat mat pay to kick in & I love my job! I will definitely be napping and hopefully relaxing when I do though!

louisl8 · 21/02/2025 07:48

Forgot to mention, my first pregnancy was easier (except for the seizures) but this one... every symptom going! I'm 39 years old though so knew it'd be harder.

It's normal, pregnancy is exhausting especially if you have other DC to look after too

LovelyLeitrim · 21/02/2025 08:00

I recall going to the doctor as I was so tired, he looked at me, said your pregnant, so rest as this is natures way.

I think it’s totally normal way of your body saying slow down.

ZaraBlue · 23/02/2025 06:19

Thank you so much for all the kind and reassuring replies. I feel much less worried now and just being kinder on myself. Thank you also for all the fab suggestions. And I'm sorry quite a lot of you are right there with me with the aches and pains and exhaustion!
