Midwife skipped appointment

Hello! Hoping for some guidance as I’m a little confused.. my midwife booked in my 25 week apt for 3rd Feb, however she cancelled due to being sick. I then had to chase a new appointment FOUR times before they booked me in for 19th Feb. At this point I am 27 weeks. I’ve just noticed that they have booked the 19th Feb as my 28 week appointment and seemed to have just surpassed the 25 week one, is this normal? Want to ensure that I aren’t being disregarded and an appointment being skipped. Already fairly unhappy having to chase an appointment for my baby 4 times! Thank you x

I wouldn’t worry too much if you are on midwife led care - those appointments are still standard check-ins. If you feel any symptoms in the meantime you can call your community midwives for guidance.
I’ve chased multiple times to see my consultant and had 2 missed apts with her (one the letter came through my door 2 days after the apt date and the other I called the day before and asked for a phone call as my childcare fell through - then to be told at the end of the next day that I was a no show as I hadn’t been in person, the note that I wanted a phone call never got passed on!). I’ve finally seen my consultant today to be asked why I was there so early (I’m 35 weeks!) and to be made to feel like I was wasting time. Don’t sweat too much but if you have genuine concerns about your care then raise your voice - you are your strongest advocate!

I can’t remember for my first baby but I feel like most appointments were just urine, blood tests and maybe hearing babies heart beat with the Doppler? Have you heard it yet? Always nice to look forward to that as you don’t get enough scans on the NHS in my opinion

No ive not heard it yet, I am very much looking forward to that. I agree on the scans!

Ah thank you this helped a lot and you are very correct there. Pregnancy is tough enough without being made to feel like that!

Honestly, I’m just going to try and sleep well tonight and move on from it tomorrow. I’ve had my raspberry tea, eaten my dates and I’m on my ball. Just remember that time will fly by now you are hitting the back end of the 20s and soon these missed appointments will be a blip on the radar. But equally, if you feel odd or feel that you need the support for your mental health (to know you and the baby are safe, etc) then call and ask. You are within your rights to have these apts. As my mother in law says - there is no medal at the end of this!
