Breast milk after 9 months not feeding

Hey,
I stopped breastfeeding 9 or 10 months ago when my baby was only 3 months old, but in the last week I've had really sore boobs and I realised the other day that I had some dried bits on my nipple like when I leaked a little colostrum during my pregnancy. I gave a little squeeze of my breast after a long hot shower and some milk droplets came up.
Has anybody else had this?

Mine carried on, on and off, for a couple of years.

Check that you are not pregnant.
Check that you are not taking medications such as anti-sickness meds, mood stabilisers that can cause a rise in the milk hormone.
Do you have a history of polycystic ovaries? Hypothyroidism or epilepsy? Are your periods regular?
Is it from both breasts? If only from one breast then see GP to get referral to the breast clinic.
Any problems not seeing from the outer aspects of each eye?
Don't stimulate your breasts as it will prolong symptoms.
If you're not pregnant, then ask GP to do a prolactin blood test.

Thank you so much for this! I will do a pregnancy test tomorrow (I don't want to do one while we have a guest 😂)
I actually had a blood test for fatigue the other day that included hypothyroidism so I'll find out about that soon. My periods aren't very regular anymore but I've put that down to its only a year since I had a baby.
I'll keep an eye on all these things and see if I need to see the doctor, thank you so much!

As one PP has said, this is very normal. Milk can last a good couple of years from when you've stopped feeding. It's nothing to worry about.
