Declining GTT and Home Birth

I am supposed to have the GTT in a couple months as my dad is diabetic. However, I feel that since the risk of me developing GD is so low and if I were to get it would present itself in other ways throughout the pregnancy, I want to decline it. When I was pg with DD I often tested positive for sugar in my urine and had the GTT and everything was fine. The MW said some pg ladies just have sugar in their urine and that is absolutely no indication that I have or will develop GD. I am 21 weeks and my urine has tested positive for sugar on the last two MW appts and is causing me anxiety about this GTT. There are no other indicators that I have GD.

So my question is, will declining/refusing the GTT raise any eyebrows with regards to my home birth? I don't want anything to endanger that and am not sure if taking it or refusing it is the better option.

CantSleepWontSleep I am having trouble with my breakfast reading too. Something to do with your liver breaking down enzymes overnight (not sure, just quoting the endocrinologist). I'm also doing my BS's 4 times a day. The cows milk has a lot to answer for - the sugar content is high. I use goats milk at the mo - slightly lower. As a rule of thumb anything under 10g sugar per 100g is ok as directed by my dietician. Petite filous yoghurt is good as the portions are small.

My reading 'before' was 8.0 today which is why I think they'll up the units tomorrow.

Beware: fruit is loaded with sugar, especially bananas. A hand full of grapes (6 grapes) is considered a portion of fruit.

Don't worry if they mention the word 'insulin' and you need it. They'll show you how to use it and you'll be fine. Just takes a bit of training to psyche yourself up to stabbing a needle in yourself! It's a very little, very fine one and doesn't hurt - much
