When did you tell your child?

Pretty much what the title says. When did you tell your child you were pregnant? For background I am just over 10 weeks and have a 4 year old. I'm a little worried that DC's life is going to massively change. I want him to be prepared as best as can be for his age and aware that a baby is coming. I also think that 9 months is a super long wait for anyone never mind someone young. Curious to what others have done & how they told them 😊

I would wait until you are ready for everyone to know. Children dont know not to tell anyone. Esp at that age (

I wanted until 12 weeks with my second but 24 weeks with my third. I had a history of loss between 2nd and 3rd so was more caution third time around.

We told our 3.5 and 5.5yos the day after we found out! Obviously with a caveat that we “thought” there was a baby growing but we’d have to wait and see. They didn’t seem bothered by the long wait, and it let us include them in it. I had an app where we could see what the baby looked like inside me, week by week, which they really liked.

I thought this about my little girl but the midwife was really good about saying pregnant rather than referring to a baby and I think we got away with it. Although when we told her after the scan she said “I knew it!” 😅

She’s been going on about a week now talking about a baby in her tummy and questioning about my body changes so I don’t think it’ll be too long before she figures out what’s going on. It is crazy how much little ones can absorb and us not realising it

They really do!

DD1 randomly started stroking my tummy one night when I was about 9 or 10 weeks (not showing) and said 'mummy, is there a baby in your tummy?'
I didn't even get a chance to think of an answer and she lay her head on my stomach and answered herself 'yes, there is'
