Changing midwifes due to moving house

I am moving house at the end of the month and will need to change midwifes/hospitals.

Does anyone know how long before the move I would need to change my care ? As I still have 2 appointments booked this month which I need to attend. Is it pretty straight forward ro change care ? TIA

Hi
it’s the same as changing your GP. They may not offer you the same appointments so attend the 2 you have booked if possible then change.

I did the same. I deliberately waited until I had had my 20 week scan (which happened at 22 weeks) and then I simply registered online with the new hospital and had my booking appointment a week later.

Just to add there wasn’t really a change of care. It was just a case of signing up somewhere new and taking all my notes with me, and cancelling all future appointments at the old hospital. There’s no communication between the two hospitals.

I changed at 30 weeks due to a house move and it was pretty quick and easy. I had to change GP first and then they booked me in with the new midwife

I'm assuming it may differ depending on where you live. I changed at about 26 weeks. My midwife told me to register online with the new hospital at least 2 or 3 weeks before my next appointment as they would need to do a new booking in appointment (where they take all of your details) and then any standard appointment. But the standard appointment wouldn't be booked at the new hospital until I'd had my booking in appointment.
As another person said, none of your notes are transferred over so if your notes are online ask your midwife to get them all emailed and sent in the post to you in advance too.
Also just to add that mine had nothing to do with my GP (so I didn't register there until later), I self referred to the new hospital online the same way I had at the original hospital.
