How do you know it's actually positive and not gonna end in a chemical again

Hey all!

I'm at two minds right now.

I'm currently 4 days late, and have been having positives for 7 days now which have gotten fairly chunky and haven't started fading (these were done this morning but I forgot to take a photo then)

Is there a number of days late which is a sweet spot? Like how long to give it?

As I've held off filling in my referral form because last time I did it I ended up heavily bleeding and had to cancel my midwife and scan they'd booked in.

Do I just go with it and fill in my form? The silly thing is, it's cos I don't wanna waste anyone's time 🥺

Unfortunately the way my brain works is experiences cement themselves so it's what I expect.

Congratulations on your positive. 💐 I googled this Q so much after my chemical pregnancy. Strong lines are a great indicator, and yours looks fab.

It's no longer considered a chemical pregnancy loss if it occurs after 6 weeks, typically 2 weeks late for people. Unfortunately, there's no way of knowing if a pregnancy is viable, but most losses are early statistically. I found a 7 week scan a must for my MH too.

You would absolutely not be wasting anyone's time, so do what makes you feel best.

Only time will tell, and that is what makes it so hard. The ability to test early is a mixed blessing at best - it causes so much anxiety, and it's impossible not to obsess if you've had bad experiences in the past.

In the end I only referred myself to the midwife after my next period was due.

Once it's a definite positive after your period is late that's it, you're pg I think statistically something like 1 in 4 end in mc, but there's nothing you can do to prevent that.

Congratulations, they look like great lines! One thing I found helped after multiple chemicals / early losses was getting private hcg blood tests done to see if the numbers were in the right ballpark and rising appropriately. That gave me the reassurance I needed before scans in this pregnancy. Good luck, hope this is the lucky one for you

Thank you all for your responses and suggestions from your experiences, I really appreciate it. It definitely is tough on MH ❤️

Unfortunately there isn't any way of knowing except for time.

For me personally with 4 years of TTC baby #2, I stopped early testing. I didn't want to know about a CP as I felt it was detrimental to my MH.
I tested a week after a missed period and then didn't test again. A CP can occur to to 5 weeks so I wanted to miss that time frame completely.

It's hard at first but it was so much better for me mentally.

Good luck to you.

There's no way of knowing unfortunately. You just have to trust your body. I found that frequently testing made me more nervous especially after experiencing loss.

For me 5 miscarriags, 3 chemicals, 1 threatened miscarriage, 2 beautiful rainbow babies.

It is absolutely hard on MH so focus on you, doing things you love, and try not to focus on baby until your dating scan if you can. Look after you.

Congratulations
