Pregnancy / Flying Abroad & Insurance

Looking for some advice on travelling abroad pregnant.
it would be for a short trip 4.5 days (flight time is approx 4.5 hours each way)

I will be 24 weeks pregnant. When looking for insurance, I don't see any boxes to tick saying that I'm pregnant and it doesn't come under health conditions.
can anyone help me out?

note - I don't particularly want to travel pregnant but feel obligated due to prior commitments. I'm awaiting a scan to check my placenta. There was an issue flagged after the 12 week scan.
DP doesn't want me to fly as I'm prone to anxiety and he thinks going abroad will make it worse.

How have peoples experiences been of flying & going abroad whilst pregnant ?

TIA x

I flew long haul at 26 weeks - I just had to let the insurance company know, I didn't need any special papers or anything (I took my maternity notes just in case)

every policy will be different but i have been abroad at 9 weeks, 22weeks and 29 weeks. My policy didnt need me to tell them i was pregnant and they dont deem it a 'pre-existing condition' provided i have a fit to fly/go ahead from midwife and no known pregnancy complications. I enjoyed all my holidays abroad whilst pregnant and all going well will be flying again soon at around 26 weeks :) Should also note that at 22 weeks i had a low lying placenta, which was flagged at 20 week scan, midwife still happy for me to fly. By 29 weeks the placenta had moved out the way (had a scan at 28 weeks for another reason!)

my maternity notes are all in my app (my trust doesnt do paper notes anymore) so i had everything i needed.

@ecossegirl91 ah that's good to know, thank you. So would you say you're otherwise covered by insurance without stating you're pregnant? I will need to look into the actual policies. It's just when I was filling it out for a quote, I thought don't they need to know...

I need to wait until after my next scan before I have the go ahead. A bit nervous about going abroad, I'm funny with food etc. How did you find it it regarding that?

I think until 28 weeks you should be covered by insurance but you need to inform them. Past that you need to check specifically if they will cover you, not all will. If in the eu do take a ghic card which offers some coverage too

What is the insurance for ? Is it to cover medical expenses? I’m going abroad in a few weeks.

Yeah I don’t think you need to tell them you are pregnant, as it’s not a pre existing condition, but if you were pregnant and had complications I think that needs disclosed.

I was fine being abroad and pregnant… food was ok too as you can eat most things. I avoided eggs even tho I eat them runny here just incase there wasn’t a lion stamp scheme or equivalent some soft cheeses just incase pasteurisation wasn’t the same as here and made sure meat was cooked through.
