Hey
I am pregnant with my second daughter due end of June. Wondering what you tend to dress tiny babies in that time of year?
Im imagining just short or long sleeve Rompers and perhaps a light cardi and sun hat in day but do you tend to keep legs covered at that stage?
My first was born in October and while I remember what I dressed her in at 6months I’m not sure how different it is with a newborn.. x

It very much depends on the weather. Ds1 was born early July in a heatwave. He wore nothing but a nappy and a poppered vest for the first few weeks!

Well it rather depend on the weather

It really depends on the weather, it could be 19/20 it upwards of 30.
In general the easiest thing is simile layers, a short vest, sleepsuit and cardigan, then the sleepsuit could be swapped for jersey footed leggings if it’s warmer, the cardigan can come off or if it’s really hot she can just be in the vest.

My DC are in their early 20's now so this may be out of date but the advice when they were born was to wear the same type of clothing we were but to add a layer.

They were born in the middle of Summer in Southern California so they wore a diaper, a onesie that didn't have sleeves or legs, and a light blanket, or a onesie that did have sleeves and legs and no blanket.

Ds I just used vest and sleepsuit. Often it was cooler in the mornings and by early evening. So both on first thing, if hot took sleepsuit off and just vest. He still needed socks on most the time as feet would freeze. Odd occasion it was a really hot afternoon indoors then just nappy a while.

I didn’t bother buying rompers etc that first summer.

I had an August born in a heat wave and for the first 2 days was in a vest and sleepsuit on a roasting ward!
After that it was one layer. Sometimes just a vest with or without leggings they were generally on and off through out the day or sleepsuit. We got some long sleeved vests as we headed into September and she often had long sleeved vest and leggings, cardigan if it went chilly.

My baby was born late July and I worried about this too. Even when it got quite hot, a short sleeve vest plus long babygrow was still needed. Newborn babies can easily get cold so that's what worked for me. I wouldn't leave legs uncovered when they're so little. And even when it's sunny you're keeping them well shaded and cool. When it was breezy out we used a cardi and light blanket.

Mine born in June wore just bodysuits for weeks, if that. It was hot in 2022! We always had muslins and blankets available to layer up so she didn't get cold and did lots of skin to skin too as that helps regulate body temperature. However, I'd definitely have sleep suits available too. Don't buy too much and then you can always top up when you know what the weather is like and whether they seem to run cool or hot themselves.

My DD was born at the end of June. I put her in a vest, dress and cardigan during the day and vest and baby gro for bed. If we went out a light blanket over her. I don't like babies in baby gro's during the day as it's like wearing pajamas out.

As others have said, it’s very temperature dependent! My LO was in either a short sleeved bodysuit only or bodysuit plus thin sleepsuit. The ribbed sleepsuits from Mori are great for summer as they are quite thin. We would also use a large muslin swaddle as a thin blanket

Totally depends on the weather. Both of mine were born around the same time in June. One was born in a heatwave and basically wore short sleeved vests for 3 months, pretty much all other clothes went unworn.

Alll the cardigans, dresses and sleepsuits got used by her younger sister as it was much cooler that year!

My DC was born in mid-July, on the hottest day ever recorded in the UK. First night, in maternity ward, he wore nothing but a nappy it was so hot in there! Felt so strange not being able to wrap him up. After that, short sleeve vests/onesies during the day but long sleeve babygros at night until the weather cooled a bit.

Following as also due a July baby!

As someone mentioned above, a light muslin blanket was very helpful for us, we had our boy in rompers a lot but covered any skin with a light muslin when out and about in the buggy, also was handy when breastfeeding in public if you plan on that.
