Pregnant with twins measuring different

Hi. I went to an ultrasound when I was supposedly 7w4d and my doctor found two sacs with heartbeat - one measuring 7w1d and the other 7w. They are di-di twins! We went again today (10w1d according to the last ultrasound) and found the two babies - one measuring 10w6d (39.1mm) with very strong heartbeat and the other 10w1d (32.4mm) with a slower but not too slow heartbeat. Has anyone else been through this? Being a little worried about vanishing twin syndrome the whole pregnancy

I have twins ( 24 years old nearly ) I found out at 12 weeks so past where you are now , I went full term , both were healthy weights but there was about half a pound difference in size so I guess it’s not unusual for one to be a little bigger , there doesn’t seem to be much difference between yours but if you have concerns ask the medical team s they will know what is usual , good luck

I heard sometimes one twin gets more than the other .So you get one pudding who's eating everything and a skinnier twin. They have to keep a eye to make sure the skinnier one getting what they need. Like sometimes there's imbalance in what one is getting in relation to the other. But i don't know how they sort it just they have to monitor it very carefully .You need to ask about it

At dating scans DTD2 was apparently 2 days older than DTD1. They always measured a bit differently. They then swapped. DTD2 was high up behind my ribs, and at the end harder to get heartbeat, and I don't know whether she maybe didn't have as much room to grow because, despite originally having been older/bigger, when they came out she was 5lb8 vs DTD1 who was 6lb3, but DTD1 was the one who needed a stint in NICU for some extra feeding. And now, 12 years later, it's back to DTD2 being 2 inches taller and about half a stone heavier!

A long winded way of saying congratulations on twins because they are cool but mysterious and endlessly surprising. And you will be fine. Just take your lead from the medical team: if they're not worried, don't you be.

Absolutely normal. When my DSIS was pregnant with twins, we were talking about strategies to tell them apart once born, even suggesting a dot of nail polish on a toe. Not needed. One was a lot bigger and still is, 9 years later!

Not been through this but if you look at your measurements on a ruler. 39mm and 32mm. It's so tiny! And they're trying to see and measure it through you.

They say scans can be up to a week out. So really if they're both measuring within a week of each other I'd not be too worried until later on when they can do a lot more to keep an eye on them.

Also their heart rates change a lot and it's normal based on so many things. Whether awake/asleep, sex of baby, what your blood pressure is at that moment in time.
