I’m 10 weeks pregnant today with my 4th and I feel absolutely awful - some days I’m ok but every couple of days pregnancy just hits me like a ton of bricks- nausea , food aversions , lethargy , ibs symptoms have ramped up terribly , emotional . Feel so awful . I’ve been on the sofa all morning and can’t move. Has anyone else suffered like this ? X

This was me in first trimester. Every day was like I had the most horrific hangover, flu, period pains, and a stomach bug all rolled into one. I'm suffering a bit today at 19 weeks, and still get nausea and morning sickness every now and then, but things have got better since about week 14. Fingers crossed the same is true for you. 🤞🏼 The food aversions made managing my IBS an absolute nightmare but it did get better!

I’m 12 weeks now and just starting to feel vaguely human. But weeks 7-11 were brutal. Sickness, fatigue, mood swings. I’m moving on to indigestion and hip pain but I’d take that over the sickness any day- it was so awful!! I pretty much spent the whole time in bed. Keep your chin up, hopefully it will ease up in the next week or two!!

I had a bone-crushing exhaustion before I even took a pregnancy test that I was sure was either a terminal disease or pregnancy. Literally I went from someone whose favourite thing was demanding 20-mile hikes to someone to whom crossing the room was too tiring.

And I flipped between nausea and being absolutely starving like some kind of feral dog, often several times over the course of five minutes. I remember staying with a friend and her unpacking an Indian takeaway and me lurching between 'I NEED to eat this now!!! You're taking too long!' to 'Am I going to throw up?' and back in the time it took her to get it out of the containers.

Lively times.

Listen to your body op. Try and rest as much as humanly possible and don’t feel guilty about it. Hope you feel better shortly 🌷

coxesorangepippin · 28/01/2025 14:00

Yeah I felt hungover for most of the first trimester

Shynslk · 28/01/2025 14:04

Yep. This is my first pregnancy and at about 6 weeks I felt like I was hit by a ton of bricks. I couldn't eat, but if I didn't eat I'd feel sick, but I'd also feel sick if I did eat. I was just moving from bed to the sofa and was off work for a while. Was like this until my 8th week, then it was off and on. 10 weeks now and today I feel okay, so far, but the past 2 days I felt awful. Hopefully you start to feel better soon!

It's hormones. Your body is all over the place with a massive rush of hormones like it's never had before. Hormones can affect all parts of our body and functioning. Be kind to yourself! Rest where possible, don't push yourself to do too much x

Lovelysummerdays · 28/01/2025 14:09

Yup my liver doesn’t react well to pregnancy hormones so my liver function tests were dreadful. There isn’t really anything that can be done though. There’s one that’s supposed to be between 5-50 and mines was 600 and something. Apparently it’s an equivalent reaction to acquiring hepatitis A.

I'm laughing at "has anyone" - it's really common! 1st trimester was the worst bit of pregnancy for me. Week 10 was the peak, it had gone by week 14

It isn't forever ❤️ I did see a GP about the nausea, so recommend that if you can force yourself out of the house, but it's so grim. The IBS did get easier to manage when I could eat normally, but I do feel for you. There were so many days when I didn't know what bit of me I should deal with first. Rest is best.

Tv and films have a lot to answer for; "feeling like I slept in a badger's arse after six days downing tequila" was not on my pregnancy bingo card...

Me too - sorry op it's not funny for you!- I thought this was just a given, especially in first trimester! I felt like shite for the duration of my pregnancies!

I hope you feel better soon op.

MissDeborah · 28/01/2025 14:16

Oh god yes!!!
I vomited about a week after conception, then it was like severe sea sickness until 22 weeks
Dizzy and the slightest thing made me sick, low BP, but the feeling of rolling on a ship was just grim
My DH once said it can't be that bad, then I threw up on him and he shut up 😂

CandyCane457 · 28/01/2025 17:00

Me 🙋🏻‍♀️
Im 12 weeks tomorrow and am only starting to feel human again after four solid weeks of throwing up daily, often multiple times a day, not being able to keep food down etc. I’m still off food now and can only eat very plain things. I won’t lie, it’s been horrendous.

paristotokyo · 28/01/2025 17:04

First trimester especially my first was horrific with all day nausea, food aversion and just generally felt constantly rubbish. Much better from 12 weeks onwards. Hang in there

PregnantAtLast · 28/01/2025 18:30

It's normal OP, unfortunately. I was like this too and I ended up having to tell work early so I could take a bit of time off. I definitely had days when I just wasn't able to work.

I'm 12 weeks now and feeling a lot better.
