Pram storage

Morning all,

I'm just coming to the end of my first trimester and started thinking about pram storage at home.
My house isn't the biggest (2bed terraced).

Does anyone have any innovative ways they store a pram in a similar situation? There's got to be some kind of ikea hack out there that I've not seen.
We have a shed, but no garage.

People buy small ones that fold...
Like Yoyo le clerc bugaboo butterfly.

They also use the pram as a basinette ie just leave the pram in the living room and pip baby in there for naps up to 6m

Boots of the car, if you have one

Poppins2016 · 27/01/2025 06:55

Car boot. If we need the boot for something else we simply unload the pram (and use the sling/carrier if baby needs to come with us).

Last time I just left my car in the boot as I have the same issue.

AwakeNotThruChoice · 27/01/2025 08:16

Same as the others. I would just carry to carry cot/car seat into the house and leave the other section in the car.

I mean if the baby is asleep I would obviously just park the pram just inside the front door. Then sort it later when they were awake.

Ours has lived in the car boot the whole time - daughter 3.5 yrs. cant say its ever been a big issue and it reduces mess in the house! You just get used to it.

A YoYo can hang off a peg so you can keep it wherever you keep your coats - that’s what we did when DD was small and we lived in a flat. Purposefully chose the newborn pack over the bassinet because it would still fold flat. Car boot wasn’t an option for us as we street parked and could guarantee a close spot. Also worth noting for any Londoners that car break ins happen a lot- I know of 5 families that have had a pram stolen from the car boot.

Mine was parked in the corner of the living / diner area. No porch or hallway.
As annoying as it sounds theres a lot to be said for having it in your space. It dries out quicker and you can restock and unpack it from the warmth of your house. If you have a hard floor it's not so bad. We only had one dog poop on wheels incident but the wheels clicked off so it was just popped in the garden to clean.

A Yoyo on a peg or slid under the sofa. That was our main reason for choosing it, plus it's easy on public transport

BertieBotts · 27/01/2025 10:13

Most prams fold up. I prioritised one which was easy to fold one-handed, ie, while holding the baby.

Then I realised I was too lazy to fold it every time 😅or it was full of shopping or the baby was asleep etc and ended up finding a place to tuck it in or even just had it in the middle of the living room floor. You just sort of live around it. But I was glad I went for a more compact type with lie-flat seat rather than a large, bulky one with carrycot.

We had ours in the dining room and used it for naps. We stored the bassinet bit in a giant storage bag that was designed for duvet storage and put it at the back of the understairs cupboard. We sold it when DC was 3. The buggy bit and the frame had been deconstructed and stored for a few months before that.

laurini · 27/01/2025 10:30

Yep, I solved this problem by getting a Yoyo with the folding newborn pack.

sel2223 · 27/01/2025 10:33

I'm actually moving house at 8 months pregnant to get a hall/entryway 🤣🤣

If you don't want to do anything that drastic, i would just park it in the living room/dining room - with DD1 we got a pram with carrycot that baby could nap in and didn't bother with a crib/moses basket so folding it up or leaving it in the car wouldn't have worked for us (we have a dog so needed it on the legs as a stand)

Brooomhilda · 27/01/2025 14:10

I have a 3 year old and soon a newborn. The pram lives in the boot of the car!

Notgivenuphope · 27/01/2025 14:15

The car thing is genius unless you both have a car as we do, and you do the daft thing I did and drive off to work with pram in my boot leaving poor DH with no pram for a whole day (he is a teacher and on half term childcare duties). We did stick a post it on the door after that haha. He did manage to borrow one from his brother so the day was saved.

skkyelark · 27/01/2025 14:23

Used it as the downstairs sleep space, so lived round it the same way we would have a moses basket. I think occasionally I did fold the frame in the hallway when baby was asleep in the carrycot in the lounge. Both children had periods where the only way to get them to nap was to take them out in the buggy, so this continued long past when they were safe to sleep in a room on their own – many, many naps finished in our hallway.

Car boot

MyUniqueDeer · 28/01/2025 06:38

Thanks so much everyone! When we start looking properly I'll definitely look at the yoyo and see where it could live, or maybe the boot will just be fine! ☺️
