Worried...dog fell onto me

My dog loves to cuddle, except this morning he flopped onto my stomach.
He is around 15kg and I am 23 weeks with an anterior placenta.
With my placenta being anterior am I at more risk of it causing damage, or am I overthinking?

Yes overthinking, you'll be fine. Plenty of mums with toddlers etc will experience that daily during pregnancy!

Thanks....I thought I was, but when you read about pregnancy and force to the abdomen, it puts the dreaded thoughts into my head!

I had a stocky beagle full on parkour off my stomach when I was pregnant with DD. Baby was absolutely fine.
If he just flopped on you I’d say you’ll be fine.
If you get any big jumps on your stomach, and your blood group is Rh- then maybe get yourself an anti-D injection (for any bleeds or stomach trauma) x

Thanks....no bleeding so far, thankfully. I'm sure I'll be fine, people take much worse to their stomach. Was just worried with my placenta being anterior.
I am in a positive blood group!

If you get any pains or cramping maybe get yourself checked out but hopefully you’ll be okay! It’s always worrying when anything happens isn’t it x

I have two very large dogs with a combined weight which mirrors my body weight - the biggest one is 40kg and thinks he's a lap dog! The number of times I've had them accidentally jump at me or flop onto my stomach for cuddles without prior warning, I've lost count of (and since I've been pregnant they've both been extra keen for cuddles). A 15kg dog isn't likely to be powerful enough to inflict much damage. If there's no sign of any bruising and no lingering pain or feeling of injury, I honestly don't think you need to worry, but if you have concerns give your midwife a call. There's an awful lot of layers between the outside world and your baby though, and they'll be well cushioned. How many weeks are you? I had my latest scan at 20+3 on Friday and baby was wiggling around happily, unaffected by the attentions of their furry siblings.

Thanks, yeah I doubt he can cause too much damage. I fully expect it to happen again, he's a very bouncy spaniel!
I am 23+4 today.
No midwife team to contact as I don't have one(live in the middle east) so my ob told me any concerns to go straight to the ER! Slightly annoying as there isn't someone I can call up for reassurance.

Ah I see. Have you felt the baby move since it happened? A friend of mine has a two year old and the toddler jumped on her stomach when she was 8 months pregnant. She left it at first but then was concerned about a lack of movement, at which point she did go for a check in the hospital. All was fine ( and the baby arrived safely 3 weeks later).

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 26/01/2025 08:45

One of my children is about that weight and was leaping all over me when I was pregnant. Funnily enough I also had a dog of similar weight when pregnant with dc1 and dog would jump all over me to give me cuddles.
Did it actually hurt when dog fell into you? I've read that in order to cause any damage its got to be hard enough to hurt you quite alot. Going off what you've said sounds fine, but you can always ring your MAU at your maternity hospital to run it past them x

I've got a 4.5 year old and a dog and have been fallen on and jumped on more times than I can count. Also fainted twice, fell down the stairs once and fell over in the street a couple of times.

I'm 31 weeks and baby is fine.

Thanks everyone.
Definitely put my mind at ease.
It wasn't sore , just got a fright I guess.
No bruising/no bleeding and baby was the strongest I've felt her after it happened.
