Odd tiny lump on nipple 🤔

OptimisticRealist2024 · 25/01/2025 16:53

I'm 18+5 and just found a very odd, single tiny lump on my nipple - is this normal? It isn't on the areola, it's on the actual teat bit, so figure it isnt a Montgomery tubercle.

It's tiny, is soft, it doesn't hurt and is the same colour as the rest of my nipple. Any ideas? I'd post a photo but don't want my nipple on the internet forever 😬

(The nipple it's on also has a little crust-like 🤢 texture to it at the "hole"...it doesn't hurt but doesn't wipe off, even with a flannel, so I guess dry skin? No stains in bra. Been like it for a couple of weeks...)

I'm older and getting something similar, I suspect hormone related, possibly my nipple was more sensitive and my clothing rubbed a bit?
Can you try soaking in a warm bath in case of a blocked duct

Rainbowsunshine81 · 25/01/2025 17:47

@OptimisticRealist2024 I've noticed this too, possibly on one nipple and like a yellow on them, I was thinking possibly dried colostrum. I'm 24 weeks on Monday.

WellExactly2 · 25/01/2025 17:50

Skin tag? They are common during pregnancy, I had one on my nipple too. It came off eventually

OptimisticRealist2024 · 25/01/2025 19:07

@Rainbowsunshine81 I thought this but it won't rub/wash off and I don't have any stains on my bra. It's weird, I've never looked at my nipples as much as I have done in the last few weeks!

@WellExactly2 I suppose that's a possibility, but it's a little lump (size of one of those pins with glass heads, very small) and completely round and I thought skin tags were sort of knobbly?

The closest thing on Google I can find is a milk bleb. Can these be painless, nipple-coloured and develop at 18 weeks?!

OP posts:
Rainbowsunshine81 · 25/01/2025 19:15

@OptimisticRealist2024 Neither have I, just took a look now and the yellow seems to be just on the nipples, near where milk comes out. I seem to just have what looks like a small skin tag just on one nipple.

Posithor · 25/01/2025 19:16

I've got lumps and bumps all over mine and get the weird crust (🤢😂) you're describing too

Rainbowsunshine81 · 25/01/2025 19:17

I think milk blebs, tend to be like a white colour?

I have Googled so many weird things today to find out what the crust is; I'm going to stop now I know someone else has it 🙈

Hmmm...I thought this, but it's honestly the closest thing I can find online! I've read they're painful though, and this isn't...and also that they go away on their own, so maybe I'll just wait and see 🤔

Thanks, I might try this - my extensive Googling shows this is the closest thing to it! But didn't expect it in second trimester 😵‍💫

I know, I had blocked ducts during pregnancy but several medics who looked at my nipple bump suggested it might be a blocked duct and my children are in their twenties 😂
I think, OP, accept that bodies are weird and most things are ok. Good luck with your pregnancy 💐

Mielbee · 25/01/2025 19:43

Any unusual breast changes should be looked at by your GP. I had one in my second trimester - not like yours exactly, but something right next to my nipple on my areola with a nippple sort of texture.

They gave me some creams to try and got me to come back to have it looked at under a special microscope camera. The creams didn't do anything and the camera didn't show anything dodgy so they said they weren't concerned, but they did definitely take it seriously. I thought I was being silly going at all but that taught me that I was right to get it looked at. I do think you should too, OP.

Anything new needs to be checked out. I am certain somebody else posted something similar last week. There was also a picture. I think it might have been in the Women's Health section so might be worth a search.

FreyaRose91 · 25/01/2025 20:16

@OptimisticRealist2024 I literally have just posted about this exact same thing, but in the Women’s Health section! I did put pictures though as I couldn’t find anything on Google that matches what I have.
Still none the wiser as to what it is though, I don’t have a crust like you, but it doesn’t seem to be going away as I’m 27 weeks now and have had it since about 5 weeks!

Thank you! I'm definitely struggling with all the changes - I went to GP yesterday (!!) about some new moles; I'm hyper aware of any tiny change and it's driving me nuts!

I had a look at your post following pp response - resigned to the fact that I'm going to have to post a picture, but I think what you have is a little different. Mine is tiny and no fluid so can't say if it's the same thing. At this point I'm tempted to say my brain is frazzled so not thinking rationally.

That looks like a tiny skin tag x

MuddyBootsRugby · 26/01/2025 18:32

I got one of these when I was pregnant 15 years ago OP.
It's still there.
Thinking now that maybe I should have asked my Dr about it.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 26/01/2025 21:23

@OptimisticRealist2024 this is similar to what I have on my nipple.

OptimisticRealist2024 · 26/01/2025 22:08

@Rainbowsunshine81 Thanks! I feel a bit less anxious about it now knowing I'm not the only one!

(Am going to assume that as you've had it for 15 years, @MuddyBootsRugby that it hasn't had a huge impact on your life?!)

It is absolutely tiny - I think I'll keep an eye on it, and ask next time I see the doctor/midwife. I feel like I'm constantly on the lookout for the next thing to crop up. How does anyone enjoy pregnancy?!?!

OP posts:
Rainbowsunshine81 · 27/01/2025 05:16

@OptimisticRealist2024 I'm going to mention it when I next see the midwife.

OptimisticRealist2024 · 08/03/2025 06:46

Just updating the thread for anyone else who comes across it in a panic.

Went to GP yesterday and she said it's something to do with the gland for milk underneath. (Tbh I was so relieved it wasn't anything sinister that I didn't catch the actual explanation in full.) It's not dangerous, it's not cancer, it's not a skin tag. I forgot to ask if it ever goes away. Yellow stuff also normal.

Thanks to everyone who answered! I also spoke to GP about how mad my health anxiety has been, so should be able to sort that and deal with things a bit better from now on.
