Hot shot method

As it’s getting closer to baby’s arrival I want to make sure I’ve everything right!

formula feeding;

I see people doing the “hot shot” method which is a “hot shot” of boiled water (which has just been boiled) , formula added and topped up with cooled boiled water to make the feed.

having contacted some formula companies they don’t recommend this method as the boiled water kills the nutrients in the formula after it’s hotter than 70degrees.

i boiled my kettle with 1 litre and poured 3oz into a bottle and it’s 89degrees,
I then done the same and left it 30minutes as recommended on formula tubs and it was 65degrees.

How do you guys do it/ plan to do it ?

I always just used straight from the kettle, didn’t realise I wasn’t supposed to! I then used a nuby rapid cool to cool it down to drinking temp. Toddler is over 2 now. I thought it had to be hot to kill the bacteria…

Are you pouring it into the bottle and then waiting the 30 mins? I always leave it in the kettle for 30 mins and any time I've checked the temp after 30 mins it's always 70, 71 occasionally. Removing from the kettle would make it cool faster.
Think a hot shot is also problematic as the water to powder ratio isn't enough to kill bacteria. You'd also have to have your cooled water measured to a tee as you can't gauge the accurate liquid measurements on your bottle after powder has been added.
