Hi all, I am 20 weeks 2 days pregnant today. I haven't had my 20 week scan yet having it on Monday. My belly keeps changing from hard to soft one minute I'm very aware of it next I hardly notice it l, I have no proper visible bump yet but van see and feel it when I'm lying down. This is my first baby and the changes are worrying me - I've not felt any movement yet and have zero pregnancy symptoms now apart from carpal tunnel in both wrists. Some days my belly feels bigger and harder than other days and I'm just worried. Any words of wisdom or similar experiences 🙏? Tia x

I think you're hving braxon hicks contractions. Very weird when you first feel it. Mention on Monday but give the MW a call before then if you want some reassurance. Google suggests they can start anytime from about 20 weeks. Mine were later I think.

OR it could just be the way the baby is lying. they move around!

BTW with my first baby I didn't really feel anything until around 22 weeks.

As above said it sounds like Braxton hicks. I can't remember exactly when they started for me but know I was getting loads by 24 weeks as I had a scan then and asked about it. Brixton hicks aren't painful. They're tight and feel weird sometimes but not pain. And there's no discernable pattern. They come at random times and last for different lengths. If anything feels off to you though it's always a good idea to seek medical advise.

Everything you've said sounds perfectly normal OP.

It definitely sounds like braxton hicks and could also be bloating at different times of the day and baby changing positions so you feel hard limbs one day then sister tissue/ space the next.

In my first pregnancy, I found out at the 20 week scan that I had an anterior placenta. I felt first movements around 22/23 weeks.
Second pregnancy, the placenta was posterior but I still didn't feel anything till over 20 weeks.
Anytime from 16 to 24 weeks is considered normal.

It's also normal to get a bump later in a first pregnancy - I didn't have much of a bump till over 30 weeks. Until then I just looked like I'd had a big meal!

I'm 20+1 and like you still haven't had my scan. I have a small but fairly obvious bump, but it definitely changes in size through the day. I find it's much bigger from lunchtime until bed, which I put down to eating and the food sitting higher than normal. Doubt it's much baby yet! Good luck with your scan x
