Just wondering what people's experiences have been recently whether having being induced or having a c section.
Apparently their policy changed last year where partners can stay 24/7.

Hi @Rainbowsunshine81

I had my little boy there 18 months ago via a semi-planned c-section (I refused induction so had a section at 41+1)

I’d say the surgical team were fantastic and the actual procedure was a really lovely experience. For me, the aftercare wasn’t brilliant - I assume due to staff shortages but there never seemed to be a nurse around when I needed more pain medication for example. Luckily my partner was allowed to stay as I don’t know how I’d have managed with the baby otherwise - although I’m sure the policy is actually in place purely to ease staff workload!

I’m pregnant again now and hoping for a VBAC at the Midwifery lead unit at the Women’s.

What are you hoping for delivery wise?

X

@Francesca1986 I had my son there eight years ago via c section, so it's been a while.
I was monitored afterwards in a high dependency room due to losing quite a lot of blood. Then moved onto a ward, but I think for some reason it was antenatal. My husband asked to stay because I was struggling and they wouldn't let him. I did speak to a consultant midwife this week and she said their policy has changed last year and regardless of a vaginal birth or c section your partner can stay.
At the moment my placenta is covering my cervix so I have to see the fetal medicine unit, so possible c section if it stays where it is. I did have an discussion with the consultant midwife discussing both options and the placenta has to move so much if you want to try a vbac.
