Managing tiredness in first trimester (or any trimester!)

I am only 6weeks and I am EXHAUSTED.
8pm bedtime with an afternoon nap.
Obviously I am currently at work and I don’t know how I’m going to manage this on work days! I can barely concentrate the fatigue is so bad.

I haven’t told my employer yet but wondered if they are likely to be amenable to flexi working etc if I do tell them this early?

Tell your employer and ask to WFH. Or if necessary you’ll have to take sick leave.
Personally, I was able to work as long as I was just propped up in bed most of the time, which luckily meant I only ended up needing 1 day of sick leave.

Congratulations on your pregnancy x

I found the exhaustion absolutely debilitating this time round - especially trying to juggle running our own business and look after 4.5yo DD1.

It did get better I'm pleased to say - second trimester wasn't too bad.
Now 30 weeks and I'm exhausted again but it's a different kind of exhaustion.

I would tell your employer, just your manager. I wouldn’t have survived the first trimester if they didn’t know, so they could understand why I wasn’t feeling great most of the time. I could not stay awake at all if I was sitting infront of the computer!!

I napped in my car at lunch times. Took some holiday to shorten my work days so I could have more of a lie in etc.

Thank you everyone.

It gets better. I've never heard of the constant need to sleep in the first trimester lasting into the second - it didn't with me or my friends/ colleagues.
