Extreme Anxiety in First Trimester

Hi all

Hoping for advice, perhaps similar experiences. I've always struggled with anxiety to an extent, but since getting pregnant this time (I'm 5+4, second pregnancy), my anxiety is through the roof. I'm struggling to get through the day without worrying excessively and I'm not sure how to feel better. Has anyone experienced similar? The reasons for my worries vary but most centre on babies health and development.

At present, I'm really concerned about my use of the heated seat in my car. It gets really hot and cosy, and I've been using it regularly (for extended periods - I drive long distances weekly) but didn't consider the use of heat could cause neural defects. Has anyone advice on this?

I feel a bit lost at present, as to where to turn for help. My booking MW appointment hasn't been set yet, so I don't feel under their care and able to speak with them.

Just any help welcomed and perhaps any reassurance this will ease xx

Your core body temperature will be hotter than your car seat. Try not to worry

The early days are hard because you get your BFP and then expect everything to start happening and it just, doesn't!
No-one confirms your pregnancy, no appointments till your booking in at 8-10 weeks, no scan till 12 weeks unless you pay privately or there's a possible issue. Everything just slows right down and you have no way of knowing for sure that everything is OK at what is actually the highest risk time....I think it's a throw back to the old days when a woman had to miss 2 consecutive periods for pregnancy to be confirmed.

We've all been in your position though OP, it's impossible not to worry. All you can do is try to stay occupied so the time will hopefully pass quicker.

MN is a good place for advice and the NHS website but, other than that, stay away from Google. It'll be your worst enemy.

Heated car seats will warm you up and make you feel better, nothing will happen to your baby! What helped me a bit was remembering that some women don't even know they're pregnant until they're in labour so have 9 months of living like normal and they still give birth to a healthy baby.
