I already suffer with chronic back pain, sciatica and PGP started on and off last week

I'm currently 25+5 with dc2 and I'm now getting barely any sleep. I'm sleeping 2 hours, waking and getting up with back pain for 2 hours then trying to go back to bed before the toddler wakes me up. I just want to sleep through once and a while and feel slightly less zombie like

I've got one that is like two wedges of foam connected together with a strap and I have my legs raised with a pillow behind the knees - it's great for supporting my hips either side and staying on my back but doesn't let me roll over as not very bump friendly

The other is a massive U pillow and although it's comfy to start with it isn't easy to get the right position in the bed and isn't supportive enough between my legs to stop sciatica wakings. I'm also not keen on the bit that goes behind my neck

Please help and recommend
Tia xxx

I've got the miimo one from amazon, it's really good. X

I tried quite a few different ones but the best one I had was this one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/PharMeDoc-Pregnancy-Pillows-U-Shape-Pillow/dp/B07JR3T1G6/ref=asc_df_B0CJT6C29W?mcid=9bffe8c8355b305ba253138d4edb381a&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=706345967659&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=208835405638190187&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045910&hvtargid=pla-2245646458759&psc=1&gad_source=1&th=1 It was really deep so didn't lose its support in comparison to some of the more expensive ones I tried

If you dont like the neck part, you could try the dreamgenii one? https://www.dreamgenii.com/products/dreamgenii-pregnancy-support-and-feeding-pillow-grey-stars But I personally found the back support part was not supportive enough and I still ended up rolling onto my back on top of it in the nighttime, which was uncomfortable.

The BB hug me is expensive but brilliant. Look on ebay. Their breastfeeding pillow is the best too.

Another vote for bbhugme. I had the pregnancy pillow with DC1 and the breastfeeding pillow with DC2. Both excellent.

thistlepiedpiper · 19/01/2025 09:03

Thank you everyone I'll have a look this morning!! I will be breastfeeding again too so bbhugme sounds like a good support pillow to try xxx

Thank you again - there are too many of the same ones online and I've been driving myself crazy and prolonging the issue by not being able to make a decision lol

Did you have back pain before pregnancy?

I used to always have sciatica, SI joint pain and low back pain and getting a firm memory foam mattress topper has made a significant difference.

Now I'm in my third trimester, I just put a understuffed pillow between my knees for extra support and find it really comfy. I'd heard great reviews about the bbhugme, but didn't want to spend the £100 if I didn't have to. I also find if I have a pillow between my knees I'm less inclined to roll onto my back too.

Thingamebobwotsit · 19/01/2025 16:22

I found the pregnancy pillows didn't really suit me, so used spare pillows to move around as I needed. It may be that I am quite petite though so generally anything built around your average person tends not to fit me.

Also following as looking for reviews!

I swore by Dreamgenii pillows when I was pregnant, so supportive and felt amazing for my back pain.

I have scoliosis so suffered a lot with my back in both my pregnancies. I bought the Byre ones from Amazon - they're memory foam and never lost their shape through 3 pregnancies (my 2 plus my friend borrowed them too!)

I started with the straight one then got the big u-shaped one for support from behind as I got bigger. I'm 9 months post c-section now and still sleep with the long straight one every night as I'm a side sleeper and just find it so much comfier.

Also couldn't recommend pregnancy yoga enough as well. I went in both my pregnancies and it was always my best nights sleep of the week after a good stretch in class.

Also re the u-shaped one - try flipping it upside down. So sleep with your usual pillow under your head, and the bit that connects to 2 straight bits between your legs. I can only sleep on my tempur pillow and was the same didn't like it behind my neck!

That's a great idea, I don't know why I never thought of doing this before! I may give it this wee try, thank you xxxxx
