Anti D in the Early Stages

Hi all, hoping for your advice!

I've just found out I'm pregnant with my second baby, and am 5+1. I'm RH negative, and received anti d during my last pregnancy, including on 2 occasions where I was jumped on by my (big!) cat and when I walked into a door handle...!!

My DS turned out to be RH negative too, so no need for anti d at birth.

Today, my DS (he's 2!) landed hard on my stomach a couple of times as he played some raucous game on me. Although I know I need to avoid this as I get bigger, am I ok to ignore and carry on as normal? I'm assuming it's too early for any impact to baby (no bump) but I'd really appreciate any guidance.

Typically this happened after the midwife office had closed for the weekend.

Thanks all xx

I am RH neg and carried two RH positive babies. I had anti D at 28 weeks and post delivery. It wouldn’t have occurred to me to have antiD for a cat jumping on me, door handle might have panicked me though. I think baby is well protected at this early stage. What blood group is baby’s father?

I'm a retired midwife. If I remember correctly you don't need anti d until 12 weeks of pregnancy onwards. Probably best to check by ringing your local maternity unit or midwife if you have the number as guidelines do change with new research.

I’m rhesus negative too, personally I wouldn’t risk it id just go to get it as you don’t know that’s my logic anyway hope everything is okay x

Don't need it until 12 weeks. Can your unit do the fetal rhesus screening? Saves SO much unnecessary worry and anti d x

Thank you all so so much for your replies. Although this is my second baby with DH, we still don't know his blood type!! 🙈 Will defo ask about screening as this was all stressful enough last time, without a toddler!!

Get your dh to donate blood and then he'll find out his blood group!
