Centiles dropping in pregnancy

So we've just been for a private scan (we've had 5 prior miscarriages so it's been reassuring to see baby wiggling around) but the centiles are dropping every time the growth is checked.

At the 20 week NHS scan, baby was 54%
24 week NHS scan baby was 33%
26 week private scan baby is 28%

Is it normal to drop so much in this space of time? And is it safe for baby to be small, and potentially get smaller? I've been seeing bad things online so wanted some real experiences or advice! Thanks all x

Private and NHS scans can vary a lot in their measurements so I wouldn't worry too much about that one. Are you having growth scans or does the midwife measure your bump? Either way, if they are worried, they will let you know and discuss a plan.

DD1 went from 75th centile at 20w down to 9th by 36w. I had a couple of growth scans at 28w and 32w where it was clear she was tracking down, but noone really seemed interested until she dropped below 10th. I was on asprin anyway and had high BP at the end of pregnancy, plus some issues with the cord pressure. At 36w, they basically made a plan for induction by 39w. So even then, it didnt become an emergency situation (she came spontaneously at 38w). Maybe chat to your MW about it at your next appointment and she will be able to reassure you some more.

Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy!

I wouldn't take any of the measurements as gospel, mine were WAY off with my first born (last scan said she would be 7.5lbs and she was born 4 days later under 6lbs).

You may find they want to send you for an extra growth scan around 34/36 weeks but there's only normally a concern raised if baby is under 10th centile or above 90th

Thank you both for your msgs. The private sonographer reviewed the NHS scans and her own scans (midwife isn't great at explaining things) and she said she's happy with everything on them. Doesn't think the centile drop is a cuase for concern right now due to different sonographers, machines etc but said importantly baby looked healthy on Monday. So I'm trying to chill out and focus on the good!
